Position Description
The Accounting Clerk supports the accounting department by maintaining accurate financial records, processing routine transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial reporting. This role requires strong attention to detail, reliability, confidentiality, and the ability to work with accounting software and office systems.
Principal Responsibilities
• Enter, verify, and maintain financial transactions in accounting systems and spreadsheets.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including invoices, payments, receipts, and expense vouchers.
• Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, customer accounts, and general ledger entries.
• Prepare and organize financial reports, statements, and supporting documentation.
• Review records for accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Maintain organized electronic and physical financial filing systems.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Support tax, audit, budgeting, and compliance activities as needed.
• Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments regarding billing, payments, and account questions.
• Follow company accounting procedures, internal controls, and confidentiality requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Skills
• Minimum of three years of accounting experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in accounting, finance, or business preferred.
• Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, data entry, or administrative support preferred.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, TABS3, accounting software, and general office applications.
• Strong math, typing, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work accurately with numbers and meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to identify errors or inconsistencies.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, organized, and team-oriented work style.
• Experience with iManage and Adobe Acrobat preferred.
Salary/Benefits
$75,000.00
- 85,000.00
per year
