Job Description
A Finance Associate at Arts FMS reports to one of Arts FMS’s Senior or Lead Finance Consultants. The Finance Associate is a flexible, industrious, and detail-oriented team member, who will support their colleagues in serving three to ten clients. Depending on the relationship with the client, the Finance Associate may be responsible for payroll, bill pay, and bank feed maintenance. They will complete month close tasks as well as day-to-day operational finance tasks. The Finance Associate needs to be judicious about their time to manage numerous projects and deadlines with care and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities for Arts FMS
* Effectively drive their projects to completion; this includes reviewing their own work and that of a Finance Associate or Assistant on an ongoing basis.
* Deliver excellent client service through ongoing verbal and written communication, and analysis of the client’s needs.
* Handle multiple time-sensitive priorities that require in-depth knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting, reporting, and compliance.
* Utilize Excel and QuickBooks Online.
Key Responsibilities in Working for Arts FMS Clients
* Own the accounts payable process, payroll processing, and ongoing bank feed maintenance for assigned clients.
* Review and clear client bank feeds at least weekly to ensure transactions are current and accurately recorded.
* Complete month-end close responsibilities by deadlines established by the Project Owner, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
* Monitor and respond to client requests in Airtable, resolving assigned items on a timely basis.
* Perform day-to-day operational accounting functions, including transaction processing, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance.
* Maintain a high standard of accuracy, ensuring financial data is complete, timely, and reliable.
* Verify that all transactions include appropriate supporting documentation and comply with internal documentation standards.
* Identify discrepancies or issues proactively and communicate them promptly to the Project Owner.
* Build trusted relationships with clients by providing responsive, professional service and clear communication.
Qualifications
* 1-5 years of nonprofit accounting, managing an organization’s finances, preferably in the arts sector.
* Dedication to delivering excellent client service and building strong external relationships with clients through mostly virtual communication channels.
* Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in order to manage competing priorities and at times, shifting portfolios.
* Self-assurance to work proactively and confidence to ask for guidance or support, when needed.
* Exceptional organizational skills.
* Strong communication skills.
* Expertise in Excel and QuickBooks Online.
* A genuine interest in the performing and/or visual arts.
Please note: All candidates must have experience working directly in a finance department.
Salary/Benefits
$60,000.00
- 70,000.00
per year
