CNN is seeking a dynamic, visionary leader to serve as Vice President, Programming. This role is responsible for shaping and executing the strategic vision for CNN's digital front doors - including the homepage on web and mobile and app home screens - ensuring they fulfill both audience needs and business objectives while upholding the editorial excellence and integrity that defines the CNN brand.
The VP, Programming will bring together editorial insight, data-informed strategy, and product innovation to deliver an engaging, trustworthy, and distinctive experience for CNN's global audiences. This leader will guide the editorial and strategic direction of CNN's homepage experience, defining how we curate, package, and present CNN's journalism across devices and contexts.
Your Role Accountabilities …
• Set and drive the strategic vision for CNN's homepage and related entry points, ensuring they serve both editorial and audience goals while supporting revenue and subscription strategies.
• Collaborate closely with editorial, product, design, engineering, audience development, and growth marketing teams to build experiences that enhance user engagement and reflect the full breadth of CNN's journalism.
• Define success metrics for homepage performance, balancing qualitative editorial impact with quantitative engagement and conversion outcomes.
• Lead innovation in storytelling presentation, packaging, and promotion across CNN's homepages and apps, leveraging data, design thinking, and emerging technologies. Chart the future of CNN's home surfaces.
• Lead strategic thinking around distribution operations, bringing together cross-functional plans for content priorities.
• Ensure editorial rigor and brand consistency across all homepage surfaces, maintaining CNN's standards of accuracy, fairness, and journalistic integrity.
• Champion audience needs, using research, analytics, and experimentation to deepen understanding of user behaviors and preferences.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration to align homepage strategy with broader network goals, from breaking news coverage to audience growth initiatives.
• Manage and mentor a high-performing team of editorial and strategy professionals focused on homepage content, programming, and experience optimization.
• Represent the homepage vision across the organization, influencing senior stakeholders and contributing to CNN's overall digital strategy.
Qualifications & Experience…
• 10+ years of experience in digital media, editorial strategy, or product-driven journalism roles, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
• Proven track record of editorial excellence and news judgment in a fast-paced, high-profile newsroom.
• Demonstrated success in collaborating with product, engineering, and design teams to develop audience-centered digital experiences.
• Deep understanding of audience behavior and content consumption across devices and platforms.
• Strong data literacy and comfort using analytics to inform strategy and decision-making.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Creative, strategic thinker with a passion for innovation in digital storytelling.

Salary/Benefits
$136,500.00
- 253,500.00
per year
$136,500 - $253,500 /year USD
Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance.
