The Senior Social Producer on CNN's Off-Platform Team creates highly engaging, platform-native content across TikTok, Instagram, and emerging social platforms. This role partners closely with Channel Managers, the Video Editorial Team, and broader newsroom partners to develop, produce, and elevate new storytelling formats, social franchises, and real-time coverage that deepens CNN's reach and engagement. The ideal candidate is a platform expert who consumes TikTok and Instagram daily, understands their mechanics, incentives, workflows, and culture, and brings a high level of editorial judgment, creativity, and executional excellence.
Your Role Accountabilities …
High-Level Production & Creative Leadership
• Ideate, shoot, edit and package premium platform-native content across social platforms, with a focus on TikTok and Instagram.
• Conceptualize, develop, and refine serialized social-first formats and long-running franchises.
• Produce and direct real-time social coverage around major news moments, tentpole events, and cultural touchpoints.
• Oversee the creation of trend-responsive vertical video and experimental formats, ensuring strong editorial framing and visual style.
Editorial Judgment & Standards
• Exercise strong news judgment to determine what stories, trends, and formats resonate across platforms.
• Apply CNN's editorial guidelines to platform-native storytelling choices, captions, thumbnails, and headline/copy approaches.
• Mentor junior staff on editorial framing, best practices, and platform strategy.
Analytics & Data-Driven Decision-Making
• Analyze detailed platform metrics to identify insights, shifts, and opportunities for growth.
• Translate analytics into actionable content, creative framing, and publishing strategies.
• Anticipate and adapt to evolving platform features, trends, and algorithmic behaviors.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Editorial teams and Channel Managers to execute high-impact social content.
• Act as a key internal ambassador for Off-Platform, helping shape how stories translate into platform-native experiences.
• Contribute to the development of workflows, processes, and best practices across the Off-Platform team.
Qualifications & Experience…
• 5–7+ years of social media experience at a media outlet.
• Expertise in producing high-impact social content, including video, visuals, and multimedia packages.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; additional editing or design tools a plus.
• Deep understanding of user behavior and mechanics across TikTok, Instagram, and other top platforms.
• Strong editorial judgment, writing skills, and creative instincts.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects with tight deadlines.
• Flexibility for coverage during breaking news, holidays, and extended hours.
Salary/Benefits
$101,500 - $188,500 /year USD
Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance.
