This is a Full Time Job
The Associate Editor, Programming, reports to the Senior Editor, Programming, and is responsible for taking the extraordinary content of CNN, curating and organising it for CNN's core platforms. Programming Associate Editors are obsessed with writing that perfect headline and creating that perfect presentation for CNN's powerful homepages. This position requires a passion for connecting audiences with compelling journalism and the ability to think like readers, watchers, and listeners to help connect disparate digital dots for the benefit of global audiences second-by-second, minute-by-minute.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Assist Senior Editor in curation of daily content
• Manage updates to stories
• Brainstorm story and series ideas on a weekly basis
• Keep an eye on social trends and digital conversations
• Experiment regularly to boost traffic and conversion rates
• Write accurate headlines and alerts with speed and audience appeal
• Exercise fast-paced news judgment and CMS work
• Create compelling digital packages for distribution across multiple platforms
• Suggest and help execute programming strategies that contribute to the life of content
• Help execute projects while monitoring audience data and optimising content
• Participate in post-mortems and conversations about improving programming
Qualifications & Experience…
• Proven experience in a related role
• Excellent writing and text editing skills
• Ability to work quickly under pressure and collaborate closely with others
• Knowledge of digital content in multiple forms (articles, videos, galleries, social content, interactives, podcasts, etc.)
• Experience with audience analytics and A/B testing preferred
• Strong feedback communication skills and collaborative mindset
• Flexibility with hours, including nights and weekends
