Personal Finance Writer

CNN Underscored is seeking a Money Writer to join our growing team. In this role, you will pitch, research and write clear, engaging, service-oriented articles on topics including loans and mortgages, savings accounts and other consumer financial products.

Your Role Accountabilities …
• Research and recommend the best loans, mortgages and savings accounts for a variety of life circumstances, producing articles that include product reviews, side-by-side comparisons and best-guide roundups of top market offerings. (50%)
• Ensure content adheres to CNN's exacting standards for accuracy and editorial independence, while following Underscored editorial guidelines and SEO recommendations. (10%)
• Collaborate with writers, editors and other team members to develop engaging and informative content. (10%)
• Monitor developments in consumer financial products and use this knowledge to pitch articles to editors. (20%)
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions and provide creative input for new content ideas and formats. (10%)

Qualifications & Experience…
• 3+ years of experience covering personal finance topics, including loans and/or savings accounts; working with a team of writers and editors on personal finance product reviews preferred
• Ability to self-manage time when dealing with a variety of assignments
• Skilled at turning complex financial concepts into clear, reader-friendly content.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced digital newsroom with deadlines.
• A passion for helping consumers make smart financial choices.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in person and through digital platforms.
