The Associate Social Producer on CNN's Off-Platform Team will support the creation of engaging, platform-native content across TikTok, Instagram, and other social surfaces. This role is a key part of the Off-Platform team and collaborates closely with the Video Editorial Team to help build and package content that broadens CNN's reach and delivers high-impact audience engagement. They will post content directly to social platforms utilizing key platform features to engage CNN's audience.
Your Role Accountabilities…
The ideal candidate is deeply familiar with platform trends, formats, and culture, and is eager to grow their storytelling and production skills in a fast-paced newsroom environment. The ideal candidate should have experience editing vertical video in Adobe Premiere Pro for social platforms.
Production Support
• Assist in creating and editing shortform social content across platforms, especially TikTok and Instagram.
• Pull clips, create selects, assemble rough cuts, and support producers during edits.
• Support production of real-time social coverage for news and events.
• Contribute to trend-responsive vertical video creation and field production when needed.
• Help produce event-related content and serialized social content in platform-specific formats.
Curation & Publishing Assistance
• Help curate, package, and distribute content from CNN editorial partners for TikTok and Instagram.
• Write platform-optimized captions using best practices in SEO and discovery.
• Assist in building custom thumbnails, cropping assets, and adapting visuals for each platform.
• Post content directly to social platforms utilizing platform-native features.
Platform Knowledge & Creative Input
• Follow daily platform trends, challenges, audio, and visual styles to inform content ideas.
• Surface new formats and opportunities for editorial and creative experimentation.
• Maintain awareness of platform features, updates, and emerging behaviors.
Analytics & Optimization
• Monitor performance metrics and flag insights to producers and channel managers.
• Assist in preparing data-driven summaries or takeaways that inform content decisions.
• Help track the performance of social franchises and recurring formats.
Cross-Team Collaboration
• Work with Social Producers, Channel Managers, and Video Editorial to meet daily publishing needs.
• Coordinate assets, share updates, and help maintain clean workflows and handoffs across the Off-Platform team.
• Support communication with editorial partners.
Qualifications & Experience…
• 2-5+ years of experience creating social content at a media outlet, digital publisher, or similar environment.
• Experience editing shortform video and familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro or mobile-native editing tools.
• Strong interest in TikTok and Instagram storytelling formats.
• Solid writing, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and shift priorities quickly.
• Flexibility for coverage on holidays, breaking news, and extended hours as needed.
• Schedule is 12PM-8PM PT Tuesday - Saturday

Salary/Benefits
$52,500 - $97,500 /year USD
Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance.
