Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and creative Editor of Strategic Verticals to lead editorial coverage, storytelling, and digital audience growth for CNBC's premium verticals, including Inside Wealth, CNBC Sport, Property Play and Options Action.
This editor will play a central role in shaping the online editorial vision for each vertical, driving day-to-day and longer-term coverage plans, and developing original stories that make these franchises essential to subscribers. The role requires someone who can identify sharp angles, create compelling storylines, elevate reporting, and ensure each vertical consistently delivers distinctive, high-value journalism across platforms.
This role requires a strong story editing, excellent headline writing, sound news judgment, and the ability to manage multiple reporters, contributors, and on-air personalities under tight deadlines. The ideal candidate is highly organized, creatively driven, and fluent in building content for digital, newsletter, social, video, and community platforms.
They will also be responsible for cultivating vibrant, loyal audiences around each vertical, deepening engagement, strengthening brand identity, and supporting subscription growth. The successful candidate will bring a strong sense of ownership, a passion for story creation, and the ability to build each franchise into a must-have subscription product.
Responsibilities:
• Copy edit and polish articles, newsletters, and digital content for Inside Wealth, CNBC Sport, Property Play, and new strategic verticals, ensuring high journalistic standards, clarity, and CNBC voice.
• Create compelling headlines, develop unique story angles, and identify ways to incorporate proprietary data from key partnerships to strengthen reporting and subscriber value.
• Drive distribution and growth strategies across platforms, including social media, newsletters, and emerging formats, while conceiving initiatives to build engaged communities around each vertical.
• Collaborate closely with reporters, on-air talent, and producers under tight deadlines, juggling multiple personalities and priorities to deliver high-quality content daily.
• Help shape these verticals into subscription products by identifying premium content opportunities, developing loyalty-driving features, and thinking creatively about how stories live across CNBC platforms.
Qualifications
• 5 years of editing experience in a fast-paced digital news environment, with a proven track record in copy editing, headline writing, and elevating editorial content.
• Strong experience managing multiple reporters and juggling tight deadlines while collaborating with on-air talent and high-profile personalities.
• Demonstrated ability to think across platforms - turning stories into compelling newsletters, social-first content, and community experiences.
• Creative mindset with a passion for audience growth, community building, and developing content strategies that support subscription products.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to incorporate data and proprietary insights into storytelling.
