This is a Full Time Job
The Charlotte Hornets are seeking a technically capable and curious Solutions Architect to support the design, integration, and ongoing improvement of our data and analytics ecosystem.
This role is ideal for a professional with hands-on experience in data systems, integrations, or analytics platforms who is ready to grow into a senior architecture role. You'll work closely with BI leadership, analysts, and business stakeholders to help build scalable data solutions that support revenue growth, fan engagement, and operational decision-making.
This is a high-impact role for a rising leader ready to help shape the future of sports analytics in Charlotte.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Integration Support
• Support the design and implementation of data integrations across all Hornets' platforms including ticketing, CRM, marketing, partnerships, and digital platforms.
• Build and maintain the Hornets' enterprise source of truth, ensuring consistency and clarity across all internal and external metrics.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions with guidance from senior BI leadership.
• Document data flows, schemas, and integration logic to improve transparency and maintainability.
Technology & Platform Enablement
• Help implement and support integrations between internal systems (CRM, ticketing, marketing platforms, mobile app, etc.) and the master data management platform.
• Participate in evaluations of new tools and vendors, providing technical input and implementation considerations.
• Assist with system migrations or enhancements, helping ensure data accuracy and continuity.
Data Engineering & Analytics Enablement
• Build, maintain, and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines under the guidance of senior team members.
• Ensure high availability, data quality, and proper transformation of structured and semi-structured data sources.
• Collaborate with business analysts and data visualization leads to deliver intuitive, actionable insights-not just raw data access.
• Troubleshoot data issues and proactively improve pipeline reliability and performance.
Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure Development
• Contribute to the operation and improvement of cloud-based data environments (e.g., Databricks, Azure, AWS, Redshift, Snowflake).
• Apply best practices around scalability, cost management, and performance.
• Support foundational work that enables future capabilities such as predictive analytics and AI-driven use cases.
Governance & Collaboration
• Follow and help enforce data governance standards related to data quality, access, and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with data management, CRM, analytics, marketing, and external vendor partners.
• Serve as a technical partner who can explain solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
• 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, solutions architecture, or equivalent roles.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, R and data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow).
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Databricks, Redshift, or Snowflake).
• Strong understanding of end-to-end data ecosystems, from ingestion to modeling to end-user analytics.
• Demonstrated success integrating data from CRM, ticketing, and digital systems.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate technical plans into business impact.
Preferred Experience
• Familiarity with platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Ticketmaster, and other sports or live event data sources.
• Experience integrating both internal and third-party SaaS systems across business domains.
• Exposure to data systems supporting CRM automation, mobile engagement, and event analytics.
• Experience working in sports or entertainment is welcome, but not required-we encourage applicants from more mature data industries.
