The CBS O&O in Dallas-Fort Worth (KTVT) seeks a creative Executive Producer to lead our Special Projects/Investigative team. As the Executive Producer, you’ll oversee our incredible investigative and special projects staff, helping to execute in-depth content for our broadcast and digital offerings. If you’re an idea machine, a self-starter and are always thinking of new ways to tell stories, this might be the job for you.
You’ll be juggling multiple pieces every week and managing a staff of experienced journalists, covering investigative, consumer, health, and human-interest stories as well as looking for new ways to bring context to the big stories. You’ll also be a vocal contributor to daily editorial meetings, looking for opportunities within daily news coverage to elevate our reporting to include deeper context and investigative angles.
Responsibilities:
• Effectively lead the Special Projects/Investigative Team to develop and execute compelling content for both linear and digital platforms
• Provide effective newsroom leadership and assist in executing newsroom strategy
• Work with digital team to produce exclusive and extended content for the stream and website
• Review and edit reporter scripts to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with all FCC requirements and legal issues
• Work with Creative Services Department to assist in promotion of special projects pieces on multiple platforms
Preferred Education
, Experience, and Certification Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or technical degree in Broadcast Journalism
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience as a news producer, reporter, or special projects producer
• Two (2) plus years in a medium or large market
• Strong writing, research skills and ability to shoot/edit are required
• Communications, or allied field preferred
• Excellent organizational and communication skills required
• Must be results-oriented, innovative, and demonstrate leadership and teamwork
