This is a Full Time Job
CBS News is seeking an expert Social Media Producer with a passion for politics to join our team and help us socialize our reporting on Washington and the 2024 Campaign!
This role requires a candidate with strong editorial judgment and enough social media expertise to recommend the best treatment for each of the various social platforms. They will produce and edit videos that will engage audiences on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and YouTube â€'' often using in-platform tools and features to render the text and graphics more authentic to our audiences. This Producer will need an eye for the most shareable nugget from larger political events, which can be broken out as a separate story; and the capability to produce that story in either text or video form, as the situation dictates.
A successful candidate will be proficient in the standard processes of Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram, as proven by their active social media profiles. In this position, the Producer will write share language for captions and titles that is simultaneously concise and shareable, yet fully in context and in line with the CBS News brand. Experience covering breaking news is a necessity, as is the ability and willingness to work newsroom hours. This will include nights, weekends and holidays. They will need to be fast and reactive when news breaks in the political arena!
Candidate qualifications:
• 2 to 4 years of social media or newsroom experience
• Demonstrated interest and proficiency in politics
• Deep familiarity with social media platforms, audiences, standard processes and analytics
• An expertise in the world of politics and the ability to write about politics in a strong, yet unbiased way
• Strong writing skills with demonstrated portfolio of published work
• Ability to work well with others under tight deadlines
• Degree in journalism, communications or related
This is a 14-16-month full time temporary position.
