Job Description
The Role
We are looking for an Assistant to support an agent in our Media Finance Group in Los Angeles. This particular assistant will work across the packaging, financing, and sales of independent films, documentaries, and docuseries. This business involves working closely with filmmakers, producers, financiers, distributors, and buyers throughout every stage of a project, from development and packaging through festival strategy, sales, and distribution. The office's primary responsibility is to help package, finance, and sell films outside of the studio system, and is heavily involved in film sales across all the major festivals such as Cannes, Sundance and Toronto. The ideal candidate will have a passion for film and curiosity for how films are developed, financed, and sold. Additionally, the Assistant is administratively capable of handling a high volume of tasks, across multiple time-zones, with the ability to clearly communicate with the agent, clients, and peers. This is a great desk to learn the independent film business from both the creative and commercial sides, while gaining exposure to filmmakers, production companies, buyers, financiers, and distributors.
Responsibilities
• Manage administrative duties including handling heavy phones and emails, client calendar management, booking reports, preparing expense reports, updating contracts, scheduling travel and general office management tasks
• Serve as the first point of contact with clients, Agents and Network/Studio Executives
• Track clients, potential clients projects and financiers
• Assist with special projects, research, flagging trades, news and compiling information as needed
• Stay up to date on current events within the entertainment landscape, especially as it relates to Motion Pictures and Television
Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 months of professional administrative or equivalent experience
• Ability to work well in fast-paced environments; meet tight deadlines; lead multiple projects and expectations; maintain a sharp focus while handling competing priorities; ability to work well under pressure
• Attention to detail, strong organization and problem-solving skills are a must
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, while understanding the importance of maintaining confidentiality
• Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel and Teams
• Ability to anticipate needs and execute time-sensitive matters
• Team oriented and able to communicate and collaborate with employees at all levels
• Adept at quickly learning new processes, technology, and ability to assimilate oneself and become familiar with existing systems
Education
• BA/BS from an accredited University or College preferred

Salary/Benefits
$20.00 - $22.00 /hour USD
