This is a Freelance Job
Type: Freelance / Contract
Location: Remote (must be US based; LA familiarity a plus)
Schedule: Project-based with potential for ongoing weekly work
About the Role
We're looking for a freelance video editor to support long-form and short-form video content for YouTube and podcast-based shows. This role is ideal for an editor who understands how to shape conversations into compelling stories - not just clean cuts. You'll be editing professionally produced content with clear direction, established formats, and a senior creative team that values collaboration and clarity.
What You'll Edit
• Long-form YouTube episodes (interviews, conversations, narrative-led shows)
• Podcast-style video (single- or multi-camera)
• Select short-form clips for YouTube Shorts and social (when needed)
What You'll Do
• Edit full-length episodes with strong pacing, structure, and flow
• Execute clean cuts, audio leveling, basic color correction, and visual polish
• Apply notes efficiently and communicate clearly around revisions
• Deliver exports that meet platform specs and deadlines
• Collaborate with producers on story shaping and tightening where appropriate
What We're Looking For
• 3+ years experience editing YouTube, podcasts, or unscripted video
• Strong sense of story, rhythm, and viewer retention
• Comfortable working from producer notes and show formats
• Highly organized, reliable, and deadline-driven
• Fluent in Premiere Pro and/or Final Cut Pro (DaVinci a plus)
Nice to Have
• Experience editing multi-camera podcasts or ''vodcasts''
• Familiarity with YouTube-first pacing and retention principles
• Ability to flag story beats, slow sections, or trim opportunities proactively
• Experience creating short clips from long-form content
What This Is
• This is not a social-only editing role, a junior assistant editor position and not run-and-gun vlog content
• This is clean, intentional, conversation-driven content with repeatable formats and clear expectations.
Why This Role Is a Good Fit
We're building a reliable bench of editors who understand our style and can take ownership of episodes as part of an ongoing slate. Editors who do well here often become long-term collaborators.
To Apply
Please send:
• A brief intro about your editing background
• 2-4 relevant samples (YouTube or podcast video preferred)
