The Electrician III is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, repair, testing, and installation of electrical components, systems, and structures throughout State Farm Arena. Operating as the highest-tier electrician on the team, this role ensures all electrical work meets code compliance, industry best practices, and arena safety standards with minimal supervision. Success in this role is defined by reliable system performance, a clean and safe work environment, and seamless electrical support across both daily operations and live events.
Primary Responsibilities (55%)
• Perform maintenance, repair, and new installation of high-voltage and low-voltage electrical and data components, completing all work orders in a timely manner with minimal supervision and in full compliance with applicable electrical codes.
• Read, interpret, and apply electrical drawings, schematics, control diagrams, and operations manuals to accurately execute assigned work.
• Ensure all equipment is properly tagged and secured (LOTO procedures) before any maintenance or repair work is initiated.
• Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs) and weekly operational checks on emergency generators to ensure optimal performance and readiness.
• Provide direct support during major electrical projects, including switchgear, bolted pressure switches, motor control centers, and safety/control adjustments.
Secondary Responsibilities (25%)
• Regularly inspect assigned equipment and systems to verify proper operation and identify potential issues before they escalate.
• Serve as on-call electrical support during live events hosted at State Farm Arena, responding to electrical needs as they arise during scheduled event shifts.
• Maintain clean, organized, and presentable electrical and communication closets throughout the facility.
• Coordinate with consulting engineers, contractors, manufacturer's representatives, and vendors as directed by the Lead Electrician or Senior Building Maintenance Manager to exchange technical information and secure materials, parts, and pricing.
Tertiary Responsibilities (15%)
• Contribute input to annual planning efforts for capital expenditures and short-term (up to one year) operational programs.
• Review schedules, operation reports, equipment conditions, and parts/material inventories to help maximize department program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement in utilities O&M.
• Orient and assist in training new employees on shift O&M routines and recommend specialized training when warranted by job performance, in accordance with personnel policies and subject to manager approval.
Additional Responsibilities
(5%)
• Maintain awareness of O&M requirements associated with new and existing equipment and stay current on relevant industry developments.
• Ensure all work is performed to the highest standards of the Electrician III role and in accordance with State Farm Arena safety regulations and good industry practices.
• Support cross-functional facility needs and complete any other duties as required or assigned by the Lead Electrician or Senior Building Maintenance Manager.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or vocational certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the commercial electrical field.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, structures, tools, testing instruments, and proper maintenance and repair procedures.
• Ability to read and accurately interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and control diagrams.
• Must be a self-starter capable of completing assigned tasks on schedule with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to accurately complete work orders and required documentation.
• Must be an effective team player with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external vendors and contractors.
• Must be able to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and be available for on-call assignments.
• Must possess working knowledge of safety equipment, systems, and OSHA guidelines.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be comfortable working at elevated heights.
• Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the facility and grounds.
Preferred Qualifications
• Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
• Experience working in a sports, entertainment, or large commercial venue environment.
• Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) or energy management systems.
• Experience with emergency power systems and generator maintenance.
• Knowledge of low-voltage data/communication systems and structured cabling.
