Theater and Operations Manager
Assemble Cinemas
Manhasset, NYThis is a Full Time Job
About the Position
The Theater & Operations Manager is the senior on-site leader responsible for the day-to-day operation of the theater and delivering an exceptional guest experience across all screenings, private events, and community programming.
Reporting directly to ownership, you will oversee front-of-house operations, staffing, concessions, projection oversight, facility readiness, guest services, and event execution while building a culture of hospitality, accountability, and operational excellence.
This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for someone who is just as comfortable greeting guests, cleaning a lobby, helping behind concessions, or troubleshooting an operational issue as they are managing schedules, budgets, and staff. No task is beneath anyone on this team-the manager leads by example.
Primary Responsibilities
* Lead the day-to-day operation of the theater.
* Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and develop theater staff.
* Deliver exceptional guest service and resolve customer concerns with professionalism.
* Oversee concessions, inventory, cash handling, labor, and daily reporting.
* Ensure every screening starts on time and every auditorium meets the highest standards of presentation.
* Oversee digital cinema operations, including playlists, content ingestion, KDMs, projection quality, and sound.
* Coordinate private rentals, filmmaker events, community programs, and special screenings.
* Build relationships with schools, local businesses, civic organizations, and community groups.
* Maintain the facility to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation.
* Coordinate vendors, maintenance, repairs, and operational improvements.
* Work closely with ownership to continually improve operations and the guest experience.
Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years of management experience in a movie theater, performing arts venue, live entertainment venue, hospitality business, or similar customer-facing environment (required).
* Proven experience leading teams, managing schedules, labor, and daily operations.
* Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Comfortable using POS systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Slack.
* Working knowledge of digital cinema projection systems is strongly preferred, or the technical aptitude to quickly become proficient.
* Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
* Must have a genuine love of movies and a passion for hospitality.
* A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to do whatever is needed to help the team succeed.

This position requires regular daytime, evening, weekend, holiday, and special event availability. During opening periods and major holidays, vacation requests are generally limited.
