Human Resources Leader
Location: Universal City, CA
Schedule: Part Time / Fractional
Amblin Entertainment is seeking an experienced and people-focused Human Resources leader to oversee all HR operations for our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a creative environment and enjoys being both strategic and hands-on. Reporting directly to the COO, this position serves as the primary HR partner for the company and plays a key role in shaping our culture, supporting our employees, and ensuring compliance across all HR functions. Position will work onsite as a Part Time / Fractional employee, 3 days per week.
About the Role
We are looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented professional with at least 7 years of HR experience in entertainment or a related industry-ideally within a small company or department-of-one environment. The right candidate brings strong judgment, excellent communication skills, and a ''roll up your sleeves'' approach.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Compliance
• Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employment laws to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, coaching managers, documentation, and conducting fair, thorough investigations
• Oversee wage and hour compliance in partnership with Payroll
Talent Management
• Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding
• Lead the annual performance review process and support managers in delivering feedback
• Review and update the Employee Handbook and company policies as needed
Leave Administration & HR Operations
• Administer employee leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, ADA) and accommodations in coordination with Payroll
• Maintain accurate HR records and ensure consistent application of policies
• Support Payroll with bi-weekly processing oversight
Culture & Engagement
• Plan and execute employee engagement events and activities throughout the year
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Required
• 7+ years of HR experience, preferably in entertainment or a related creative industry
• Strong knowledge of California employment law
• Experience managing HR functions independently
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
Preferred
• Experience with payroll systems, ADP desirable
