MEDIA & AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR
Part-Time, Hybrid - New York City
POSITION SUMMARY
This part-time position combines press outreach and social media promotion. The Coordinator will help increase awareness of ADIFF festivals, ArtMattan film releases, virtual film series, and special events through media relations, audience engagement, and digital communications.
This is a hands-on implementation role. Strategy and messaging are developed collaboratively by the Co-Directors and staff; the Coordinator is responsible for executing outreach and promotional activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Press & Outreach
*Distribute press releases and promotional materials.
*Follow up with journalists, editors, podcasters, and community organizations.
*Assist in securing media coverage, interviews, listings, and community partnerships.
*Research and maintain media and outreach contacts.
*Support outreach to universities, cultural institutions, and community groups.
*Track media placements and outreach activity.
Social Media & Audience Engagement
*Create and schedule social media content.
*Adapt existing promotional materials for digital platforms.
*Assist with audience engagement and community management.
*Support email marketing campaigns.
*Prepare basic analytics and campaign reports.
*Promote festivals, screenings, and film releases across digital channels.
QUALIFICATIONS
*Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*Interest in film, arts, culture, and African diaspora communities.
*Experience in communications, marketing, public relations, social media, or audience engagement preferred.
*Experience with Canva and social media platforms.
*Familiarity with Google Workspace and email marketing tools.
*Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
*Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
SCHEDULE
20 hours per week (approximately 4 hours per day, Monday-Friday).
Primarily remote.
Occasional attendance at screenings, meetings, festivals, and special events.
Some evening and weekend availability may be required during festival periods.
SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE
The successful candidate will:
*Consistently execute outreach and social media campaigns.
*Maintain organized media and community contact databases.
*Contribute to increased visibility for ADIFF and ArtMattan programs.
*Demonstrate reliability, responsiveness, and strong organizational skills.
