contingent on the course of the COVID variants and federal, state and local safety guidelines and

recommendations. As we look forward, the majority of our employees will have flexibility that allows them to choose a predominantly remote, predominantly in-office, or hybrid setup.

Our official in-office locations in the United States includes LA, NYC, Stamford, and Chicago, and we have several other states in which employees may work remotely if their role isn't one that requires them to be in or near the office.

THE ROLE: DIRECTOR, L&BA

A+E Networks has an open position in New York for an experienced transactional attorney who will provide support to all divisions commissioning, licensing, and/or producing content for any of A+E Networks' brands.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Under the direction of senior attorneys in the Content Group:
• Draft and negotiate various agreements relating primarily to nonfiction/real-life/documentary projects; e.g., concept development; program commission, co-production, and/or acquisition; talent, writer, and other service-provider agreements; option/purchase agreements;
• Interact independently with internal clients (e.g., programming, in-house production, production management, finance, accounting, marketing personnel), as well as individuals at other companies (e.g., production companies, agencies, outside law firms) to gather the necessary information to draft and negotiate applicable agreements, and respond to comments effectively and quickly;
• Stay attuned to the ever-evolving business needs of clients, discussing relevant issues on a collaborative basis with the team, and revising template provisions after consensus has been reached to achieve business goals;
• Track projects and provide status updates to ensure that projects assigned are handled in a timely and efficient manner; and
• Research information and provide both legal and business guidance to clients.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

On our team, you'll be at the core of A+E's businesses-working to conclude deals to create great content with key business partners, whether for our own exploitation or exploitation by another company. You'll learn about content creation from start (pitch acceptance and development) to finish and beyond (delivery and ancillary exploitation). The team is thoroughly engaged, collaborative, and highly motivated, eager to discuss issues, exchange ideas, and provide solutions that meet company needs, while protecting the company from legal risk. You'll interact with L&BA colleagues in other areas, too (including Risk, Standards & Practices, Rights & Clearances, Distribution, International, etc.). Your work load will be varied, and while juggling projects may not always be easy, you'll be encouraged to interact often to brainstorm and formulate creative solutions.

YOUR STORY: [+BEHAVIORS] (what you need to have)
• JD Degree from an accredited law school and New York or CA or other relevant State bar admission
• 5 to 7 years of legal experience in the entertainment field (preference given to prior experience in the legal and/or business-affairs department of a cable or broadcast network, or a production company, including at least 3 years of legal experience at a law firm with a significant entertainment division.
• Strong time management and multi-tasking skills needed; must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented and well-organized
• Strong oral and written communication skills (writing samples may be requested)
