Metadata Training Manager (NY Or Ca)
Description
The training manager will be responsible for supporting the metadata operations team and new users globally. The R2 application captures all of UMG’s core metadata globally and therefore has a wide user base. As a result, it also has a fairly consistent turnover of users and therefore all new users need to quickly get up to speed with UMG’s metadata standards and processes thus promoting better data quality. Additionally, the functionality and business processes change regularly so ensuring that there is a clear understanding of the metadata standards, processes and issues using effective training approaches and materials will be the main focus of the role.
Job Functions:
• Work with the metadata operations team to collate all business context and processes that relate to the metadata captured in R2
• Create modern and informative training materials, including video, PowerPoint, Visio and wiki (or other online) materials
• Prepare syllabi and various one-sheets to train new edit users and advanced view-only users
• Support the Metadata Specialists to deliver training materials for their local contacts and to teach them how to train their dedicated users
• Assess any potential training requirements regarding new and existing staff by proactively reviewing data issue metrics and liaising with the metadata team
• Work with the Director of Metadata Operations, the Heads of Metadata Operations East & West Coast, and the Data and Process Analyst to ensure visibility and metrics into user training needs and issues to inform decision making around individual and group training needs
• Discuss training material needs with the labels globally to ensure that local requirements are also covered
• Document processes and standards followed by the metadata operations team thus ensuring better training resources for the staff going forward
• Collaborate with the local Metadata Specialists to conduct periodic refresher courses for edit users
• Serve as back-up to the global metadata operations team for release review and approval, special projects data clean-up and view-only training sessions
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Speaking and writing in additional languages
• Ability to relay information in a clear and contextualized way, i.e. proving clear reasons behind UMG’s policies and standards
• Ability to set a clear standard that elicits elevated performances from pupils, while understanding that the constantly changing business requires some flexibility of that standard
• Perpetually questions metadata operations’ understanding of UMG policies and how to tailor workflows around them
• A team player, who’s passionate about helping others succeed in their roles
Experience:
• Repertoire management experience with multiple label groups within UMG
• At least three years’ experience with repertoire management at a record label
