ABOUT THE ROLE
Location: El Segundo
Due to continued expansion, ZOO Digital have an exciting opportunity for an Audio Engineer to join our team based in El Segundo, CA. The Audio Engineer will be responsible for recording, editing, and mixing audio for film and television with emphasis on near field/home theatre mixing, as well as providing technical quality control for mixes being delivered by our clients and Production teams.
Day to day responsibilities will include;
Record, edit, and mix audio for film and television with emphasis on near field/home theater mixing (Mixes for 2.0, 5.1, and 7.1 surround formats).
Mix secondary language dubs and ADR.
Mixing for both lip-sync and voice-over style dubbing.
Edit and restore dialogue audio to remove unwanted noise and irregularities and ensure sync.
Perform fixes on existing mixes in order to address content and/or recording issues
Perform audio frame rate conversions for video sub-masters.
Conform audio to alternate and revised program versions, including legacy localized audio streams.
Music & Effects dubbing package prequalification (with reports)
ProTools dubbing package and mix session preparation and conformance.
Understand and deliver files to meet various broadcast and digital industry program loudness specifications such as EBU R128, ATSC A/85, and ITU-R BS.1770-1/2/3/4.
Encode to (and decode from) various Dolby and DTS formats.
Maintain organized project files and assets to facilitate project hand-offs and ensure viable archives archival assets (dialogue stems, print masters, and mix sessions) when required.
Partner closely with Post-Production department and dubbing project coordinators to ensure all audio deliverables satisfy client requirements and deliver on time.
Must be willing to learn new audio editing software/systems.
All on site ZOO employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and must provide CDC verification of their vaccination status as part of the onboarding process before starting.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for enthusiastic Audio Engineers with experience working in multiple audio mix suites. The successful applicant will have general knowledge of studio recording techniques, as well as experience with iZotope RX software and other audio-post plug-ins.
We are also keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience;
Bachelor's degree or 6+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive understanding of Avid ProTools audio software and hardware
Experience working with Dolby Audio a plus.
Experience working in multiple audio mix suites.
Experience working within a Mac environment.
General knowledge of studio recording techniques.
Video NLE's a plus (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro)
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Ability to work in an office environment using computers for 8 hours a day.
Visual and Audio acuity required to recognize possible issues in video and audio assets.
Standard office environment with ProTools Mix and Edit bays; A/V QC bays would also be available for critical content review if needed.
