ABOUT THE ROLE
Salary: $22-$26ph
Location: El Segundo, office-based
ZOO Digital has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Audio Engineer to join our team based in El Segundo, CA. The Assistant Audio Engineer will be responsible for generating Quality Control reports for a variety of ProTools sessions delivered by production entities. The Assistant Audio Engineer will also perform basic Audio Editorial tasks related to spec conformance and assist the Audio Video QC team with final deliverable QC.
Day to day responsibilities will include:
Printmaster, Music & Effects, & Stems package prequalification (with reports).
Perform loudness conformance, rename session files, and bounce deliverable outputs for audio mixes.
Edit and restore dialogue audio to remove unwanted noise and irregularities and ensure sync.
Conform audio to alternate and revised program versions, including legacy localized audio streams.
ProTools package / mix session preparation and conformance.
Encode to (and decode from) various Dolby and DTS formats.
Maintain organized project files and assets to facilitate project hand-offs and ensure viable archives archival assets (dialogue stems, print masters and mix sessions) when required.
Partner closely with internal partner groups to ensure all audio deliverables satisfy client requirements and deliver on time.
Must be willing to learn new audio editing software/ systems.
This role will require continual learning of new and modified specifications from title to title and client to client.
All work is schedule and customer satisfaction driven, so reliability and timeliness are very critical.
All applicants must have the ability to work on-site in El Segundo, and work evenings and/or weekends.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for enthusiastic applicants, ideally with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2 years related experience and/or training. We are also keen to hear from applicants with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
We are also looking for applicants with the following skills and experience:
Excellent verbal and written communicator in English - additional language skills are desirable but not essential
Mac and Windows OS
Avid ProTools audio software and hardware
iZotope RX software or other audio-post plug-ins
Dolby Audio and Doby Atmos Renderer
Dolby Media Encoder Suite
Knowledge of NTSC, PAL, and HD audio / video formats, file types and resolutions, and video frame rates
Knowledge of various broadcast and digital industry program loudness specifications such as EBU R128, ATSC A/85, and ITU-R BS.1770-1/2/3/4
General knowledge of studio recording techniques
Adobe Audition
QuickTime Pro
Video NLEs a plus (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro)
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
