Position Summary/Objective: During peak season, the Fireworks/Special Effects Design Assistant is the person who supports the production process post design of a scripted show. They work with the facility managers to provide the necessary documents to execute scripted shows.
Essential Functions: While not all-inclusive, following is a list of primary and general duties. In
addition to these listed duties, this position shall also perform other tasks as assigned, shall abide by all provisions of the Employee Manual, and shall participate in company initiatives and projects.
•
Be able process all scripts from Show Director to create pull sheets, address sheets, show reports
and layouts, including dump files for our various firing systems.
•
Be able to create caliber fire scripts for regular core pyrotechnic shows.
•
Use time code wizard to attach the proper time code to the audio tracks and offset the
scripts as needed.
•
Pass all the processed information of the scripts to facility managers and ensure they have all the information they need to execute the show.
•
Load all VS/clocks or iPads with music show files.
•
Manage smart systems, specialty holders and time code systems for each production and relay what will be needed to facility managers as well as the equipment manager to reduce equipment shipping and ensure that the proper equipment is in place for every show with in the stated deadlines of the production team.
•
Update the script show sheet with all current information according to existing protocols.
•
Archive old scripts as needed and required.
•
Any other duties as requested by the Fireworks Design Team.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will have no direct reports.
Work Environment
This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, office phones and other standard office equipment. This role involves ongoing communication with internal employees and external contacts--via phone, email and any other professional means of communication necessary to complete the permitting process.
Physical Demands
The person in this role must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and must move about occasionally inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery and to have routine contact with individuals on the 2nd floor of the building. The person in this role must frequently climb stairs to the second floor to interact with employees, obtain information, attend meetings-or as needed to complete the essential job duties. This person may be required to frequent our storage facilities on and off site.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are typically an 8 hour day- in addition to a 1 hour unpaid lunch. This person in this role will typically work an 8am to 5pm schedule, except during high volume sales periods when evening and weekend work may be required. This position at some times during the year will require overtime, and the Fireworks/Special Effects Design Assistant may also receive calls after hours. Calls taken after hours should be added to weekly hours worked.
Travel
This position requires infrequent travel, less than 25%. Travel may be mixed -- local and outside the local area and overnight. Rarely would travel be international, but being legally able to cross the Canadian border is required.
Preferred Experience or Skill Sets
•
Knowledge of smart systems including Pyrodigital, FireOne, Show Director, Ultra Fire, Cobra, StarFire
Knowledge of some types of pyrotechnic setups is a nice to have.
•
Knowledge of audio editing software such as Goldwave or Audacity is a plus.
•
Ability to take direction from others is required.
•
Ability to manage and follow strict schedules/deadlines is required.
•
Ability to work collaboratively with others to complete tasks accurately and on time.
•
High level of experience using computer software, such as Google Suite and specifically excel--these skills are highly preferred.
•
Advanced math skills and high attention to detail are required for success in this role.
Education and Experience
High School Degree or equivalent is required
