Director, Music Strategy and Operations
The Music Operations Director will provide key business intelligence necessary to define and align both short and long-term organizational priorities with the goals of the music team. Also, the role will be responsible for day-to-day music operations.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and lead music operations processes, including working with key stakeholders to identify and execute on opportunities for ongoing incremental improvements
• Manage the ongoing enhancements of our content management systems with an emphasis on documentation, data integrity and automation
• Support the setup and training of new process, workflows, and information policies for licensing, and programming
• Lead music department roles, including processes and goals
• - act as general manager reporting SVP
• - Goals: increase efficiency, improve growth, incentivize team
• Execute music marketing campaigns, including licensing and performances
• - Process: pitch artists/songs for partnership programs and events
• - Goals: reduce costs, improve promotion, build relationships
• Oversee music catalog business, including label and publishing administration
• - Process: lead commercial release and monetization strategies
• - Goals: increase revenue, improve engagement, grow profile
• Manage music TV operations, including legal rights and cue sheets
• - Process: serve as liaison between music and content teams
• - Goals: increase communication, improve systems, align teams
• Generate music content ideas, including releases and programs
• - Process: brainstorm catalog projects and marketing initiatives
• - Goals: increase diversity, improve value, earn credibility
Required Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
• 10 years of relevant experience in music licensing, business development and rights management
• Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel, Word and Access
• Experience negotiating music agreements with music publishers and record labels
• Understanding of the music publishing business, copyrights, master recording, sync
• Execute music marketing campaigns, including licensing and performances
• Manage music catalog business, including label operations and publishing
• Manage music TV operations, including cue sheets and music rights
• Lead new business, including music content and composer development
Required Skills/Competencies:
• Passion and deep understanding of the technology and music spaces with at least 5 years of experience in a content management business
• Working relationships with Record Label, Music Publisher and key Technology partners. Preferred experience includes copyright, licensing, royalties and rights management
