Wise Music Group / G. Schirmer Inc. is in search of a Director, Copyright Administration to join the Copyright Department in Santa Monica. Reporting to the VP, Copyright Administration, the Director will oversee catalog research and maintenance, statutory terminations, and PRO registrations, among other things.
The position will conduct chain of title research to verify rights as required to resolve any issues arising from 3rd party sources, within the department, and/or other departments (Licensing, Royalties, Production, etc.) within Wise Music group to ensure that our copyrights are being properly administered.
This role is also responsible for the analysis and management of statutory terminations and will report findings to management for evaluation, administration of the performance and mechanical registration status reports for US owned repertory with the focus on the swift resolution of conflicts and rejections and local processing of all new foreign agreements.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of music publishing, copyright law and all types of music royalties for both musical compositions and master recordings.
Qualifications
• 8-10 years copyright experience
• Strong client relationship skills, including the ability to support senior executives
• In-depth understanding of music rights and royalties
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to interact in a collaborative spirit
• Experience working productively on time-sensitive matters
• Advanced knowledge of Windows, Outlook, Excel, and iMaestro.
