Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to oversee daily workflow by managing requests from Theatrical Creative Directors, Producers, Editors, clients, and finishing team. The position works in an organized team environment that relies heavily on collaboration and file sharing. Typical projects include theatrical teasers, trailers and TV spots, as well as network promos.
Core Responsibilities:
• Manage the general workflow of the Motion Graphics Department
• Exercise discretion and independent judgement in order to prioritize projects and ensure timely completion and billing
Outline of Specific Functions:
1. Manage all current motion graphics requests simultaneously and prioritize based on delivery schedule.
a. Participate in client interactions as needed in order to facilitate communications for finishing and prepare client presentations.
b. Be the point person for all motion graphic requests, take detailed notes and relay necessary information to necessary parties.
c. Assure that all work orders are complete and current in the FileMaker system, and prepare daily graphics status update.
d. Anticipate project conflicts and work with the Creative Director of Graphics to resolve any conflicts.
e. Monitor project completion and keep accounting department informed of percentage completion for billing purposes.
2. Oversee creative standard and maintain workflow efficiency by monitoring quality control and ensuring all incoming/outgoing offline and finishing graphics are delivered correctly, to requested specifications, and in a timely manner.
3. Participate in the interview, selection and training of the Graphics Coordinator position and other designer roles as needed.
a. Supervise the Graphics Coordinator and delegate various administrative tasks.
b. Review performance and discipline the Graphics Coordinator.
c. Weigh in on candidate selection for designer roles as needed.
Requirements:
• 2+ years of professional experience in coordinating/producing motion graphics, preferably within the movie marketing industry.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional organization and high level of attention to detail.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and be resourceful.
• Capable of problem-solving and project management within a leadership role that inspires design staff.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain a level headedness in a fast-paced creative environment.
• Proactive rather than reactive and able to take constructive criticism while managing the workflow of creative projects.
• General understanding of graphics creative software and tools including, but not limited to, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Cinema 4D.
• Familiarity with offline and finishing specifications such as HD, 2K, 4K, 1x1 Instagram, Snapchat/Vertical, Living One-Sheet media format.
• Passion for design and film is preferable.
