Social Media Manager
New York City, NY
Whalerock Industries is seeking an experienced social media and community manager for a high-profile morning talk show. The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of digital experience with a proven record of success in growing a robust and engaged online audience through social media marketing and other traffic-driving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the day-to-day execution of the social media plan
• Craft smart and effective social language for video, audio, photo and web content
• Drive growth and creative strategy in brand audience as measured by engagement, reach, view counts and site visits
• Provide regular analytics and reporting around social media and community engagement
• Work with the managing editor to help create and implement a social media strategy for the brand, both long-term and short-term
• Moderate community interactions to ensure brand social channels remain positive, safe, and entertaining environments for our audience
• Inform content production based on what performs well, both on our channels and outside channels
Critical Competencies
• A creative and strategic thinker who can construct an informed plan and then execute it
• Up-to-the-minute with knowledge of all social media platforms
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, readily adapting to continually changing priorities and aggressive project timeframes
• Have the emotional intelligence and good judgment required to be an outward facing representative of a high-profile brand
• Punctual and capable of working early morning hours
• Confident yet respectful around high-profile individuals and executive staff members
Ideal Experience
• A minimum of 4-6 years’ experience in social media management or related field
• A Bachelor’s degree
• A finely-tuned sense of what engages online audiences
• A strong knowledge of social media marketing and a good working knowledge of SEO best practices
• Knowledge of paid media landscape a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills and can work collaboratively to get the job done
