Position Overview:
The West Newton Cinema Foundation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cinema Manager to oversee the daily operations of our historic cinema, ensuring exceptional movie-going experiences while upholding our community-oriented mission. This role is ideal for someone passionate about films, highly responsible, and adept at multitasking within a dynamic environment. The Cinema Manager will be instrumental in maintaining the legacy of West Newton Cinema as a key cultural destination.
Key Responsibilities:
-Operational Management: Oversee daily cinema operations, including staff scheduling, facility management, and customer service excellence. Ensure all operational protocols are followed, and the cinema environment is clean, safe, and welcoming.
-Staff Leadership: Manage and mentor the Assistant Manager and part-time staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations. Promote a collaborative work environment that aligns with the cinema's values.
-Financial Oversight: Responsible for the cinema's financial tasks, including budget management, pricing strategy, cash handling, and payroll. Ensure financial activities are in line with overall business goals.
-Programming and Scheduling: Coordinate film scheduling and event planning, liaising with distributors and community groups to enrich the cinema's offerings. Keep abreast of industry trends to ensure a relevant and engaging selection. Consulting support for programming decisions available for initial months in role.
-Community Engagement: Maintain and enhance relationships with the local community, including patrons, local businesses, and cultural organizations. Actively engage in community events and initiatives.
-Marketing and Promotions: Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote films, special events, and other cinema-related activities. Manage social media presence and customer outreach to increase engagement and loyalty.
-Facilities Maintenance Coordination: Oversee the maintenance of cinema facilities and equipment, ensuring all areas are functioning well and comply with health and safety codes and standards. Manage relationships with service providers, including technicians and cleaners.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
-Proven experience in cinema management or a similar role in the entertainment sector.
-Strong leadership qualities with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-Ability to work flexibly, adapting to varied hours and job duties as required.
-Passion for films and a deep understanding of the cinema industry.
-Experience in financial management, including budgeting and financial reporting.
-Ability to learn technical projection systems
-Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
-Community-oriented with a track record of engaging with local groups and initiatives.
-Additional Information: Hours vary by day, with requirements to manage operations during peak times, including evenings and weekends.
