About The Position: The Assistant Editor is responsible for providing support to the Editor in editing and assembling recorded raw material into a suitable, finished product that matches the director's vision and tells a cohesive story. The Assistant Editor works with original assets and sources needed materials, as assigned, that include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics, animations and special effects. They also assist in creating and editing social media and promotional content.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communicating both verbally and in writing on behalf of the Editor with Studio executives, external partners, and film/TV directors.
Building projects from start to finish, including ingesting footage, transcoding, syncing cameras, and ensuring all necessary media and assets are organized within.
Assembling edits according to all specifications and responding effectively to notes and asks by the Producer team.
Exporting and quality control of deliverables for sizzles, promos and full episodes/films.
Assists in the review of shooting scripts and raw materials to help the Editor in ensuring a scene's value and contribution to the continuity of the product.
Assists in preparing a logical storyboard that combines the most effective scenes.
REQUIREMENTS:
1-3 years in Post-Production as an either a Post PA or Assistant Editor
Demonstrated experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut)
Ability/desire to take the role of lead editor on smaller projects, with deep understanding of storytelling, timing, and continuity
Deep understanding of social video trends, deliverables and content creation
Passion for technical and organizational workflows as a means to execute creativity
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile growth environment with great attention to details
Experience with data wrangling and protection on productions is a big plus, including transferring footage to drives directly from source media
