Position Overview: The Sr. Director, Athletic Performance will lead the production and delivery of evidence-based athletic development and injury prevention programs for the Washington Wizards NBA team. They will also have the opportunity to contribute to performance initiatives across Monumental Basketball.

Responsibilities:
• Develop, coordinate, and track personalized strength and conditioning plans aligning with players' specific needs and goals.
• Manage and develop S&C coaches across Monumental Basketball.
• Lead the assessment and monitoring of player athletic performance.
• Lead the implementation of nutrition strategies in coordination with the Team Nutritionist/Dietitian.
• Collaborate on the development and delivery of corrective, rehabilitation, and return-to-play programs.
• Contribute to the evaluation of player movement performance and proficiency.
• Contribute to sport science initiatives – including the monitoring and management of player workloads and the delivery of internal performance science research.
• Motivate and lead athletes to achieve elite levels of conditioning that support the psychological as well as physical preparation of the athlete/team and are highly integrated with the technical coach and sport specific training.
• Demonstrate and communicate exercise techniques to athletes and effectively improve athletes' exercise execution with a variety of coaching tactics and skills across the range of exercises required for varied and comprehensive weight room delivery.
• Acquire robust assessment data across a wide range of strength, power and conditioning assessments, effectively using equipment and software as required; manage and monitor athlete training and assessment data.
• Assist in developing and managing performance training and sport science facilities.
• Assist in developing and delivering player performance strategies, policies, and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
• Postgraduate degree in sport science, exercise science, or strength and conditioning required; physical therapy preferred but not essential; doctorate preferred.
• 10 years of experience working as a strength and conditioning coach; experience with NBA, intercollegiate or national-level basketball players preferred.
• Certified as a strength and conditioning coach (CSCS, or international equivalent).
• Nationally recognized accreditation or certification in sport science preferred (such as BASES or ACSM).
• Experience implementing physiological and biomechanical assessments.
• Experience of having contributed to applied sports performance research and development initiatives.
• Experience as a practicing Physical Therapist or Athletic Trainer preferred.
• Outstanding organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple projects at the same time and to adapt to changing priorities.
