This is a Full Time Job
The Director, Social Media is responsible for establishing and implementing the overall social media strategy, editorial calendar, and promotional plans across the full ecosystem of Washington Wizards social media channels and international-language accounts. This position will work collaboratively with the Marketing and Content teams and across the organization to develop social media content that drives growth and engagement. Ideal candidates will possess a deep understanding of how audiences digest and engage with social content, hands-on experience leading global content strategy.

Responsibilities:
• Direct and implement the Wizards social media strategy, including day-to-day oversight of Wizards content across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok, and Weibo.
• Develop organic social media channel strategies in collaboration with Wizards Content and Social Media teams and optimize distribution across channels.
• Ideate content and strategy to build revenue enhancing content across global partnerships, ticketing, and retail.
• Oversee the live coverage of all Wizards games, practices, and events across the 82 regular season schedule, full practice schedule, and season-long event calendar.
• Drive conceptualization and planning around daily social content, team events and initiatives, plus tentpole campaigns.
• Curate, capture, and publish content as needed that is consistent with team and brand messaging.
• Partner with Marketing to drive the strategy for using social influencers and content creators to generate engagement and reach new audiences for the Wizards organic social channels.
• Play a pivotal role in growing the global reach of Wizards international content channels and lead critical initiatives to enhance the visibility and fan engagement in market and globally.
• Lead monthly and weekly digital reporting across social channels, working with social team to pull results and analyze data to create strategies and tactics for continual audience engagement and growth.
• Leverage social reporting to identify areas of improvement and/or growth with an open-minded 'test and learn' approach.
• Serve in leadership role with directing the social media team, while guiding platform strategy and direction to 5 international language social media consultants.
• Work cross-functionally with groups and partners across the MSE and Monumental Sports Network landscape; implementing a strategy that supports engagement and DTC growth.
• Stay on top of social media trends and integrate new opportunities for the Wizards to expand their reach and impact.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
• 7 years of experience in social media role preferred, preferably in the sports or live entertainment industry.
• Knowledgeable about current and emerging social media platforms and trends.
• Strong visual design eye, with regard to graphics, photography, and produced video content.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong proof-reading skills; outstanding attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Content Management Systems.
• Strong work ethic and ability to complete projects on a timeline.
• Knowledgeable about NBA players and teams; experience in professional sports is helpful.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• May be required to travel on occasions; trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay for one or more nights.
Pay Range: $115-135k USD.
