Position Overview: The Associate, Monumental Basketball - Research & Development position will support the work of numerous departments in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a focus of supporting the Research and Development team. This person will be an active contributor the day-to-day operations of the Research and Development team and will exercise strong analytical and critical thinking skills to further the software development and research projects supporting the Monumental Basketball franchises.

Responsibilities:
• Design statistical analysis and communication tools using a variety of basketball data sources including spatial tracking, play by play, and other player/team information.
• Collaborate with Research and Development team on projects including crafting ad-hoc queries and managing longer research projects involving the areas of player evaluation, game management, in-game tactics, roster building, salary cap strategy, and broader league trends.
• Build tools and models that support Sport Science, Athlete Care and Performance specialists.
• Design and execute systems to track department processes, projects, meetings, and activities.
• Assist with game day responsibilities including pre-game setup, in-game statistical charting, and post-game analysis reporting.
• Work collaboratively with the Monumental Basketball operations groups on projects as needed.
• Direct and support fellow Monumental Basketball Associates on projects throughout the year.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, sport science, statistics, math, computer engineering or related field.
• Experience designing and implementing statistical models using R or Python.
• Proficiency with SQL and API calls.
• Knowledge of Research and Development role within a basketball context.
• Demonstrated data visualization skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong time management and organizational skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office Skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• High integrity; dependable and comfortable working with confidential information.
• Strong work ethic, detailed driven, creative, positive demeanor, and eagerness to learn.
• Willingness and ability to relocate to Washington, D.C.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• This position is a full-time non-exempt one-year entry level associate program to support the Washington Wizards and Monumental Basketball.
