Summary:
The Coordinator, Mascots & Entertainment is responsible for handling all aspects of the Washington Nationals mascot program, providing administrative, logistical and creative support to the Sr. Manager, Game Presentation, and assist with facets of the game day entertainment staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage the Washington Nationals mascot program.
• Manage, schedule, and maintain records of all Nationals mascots and staff for appearances at public, private, community, and team events as well as all Nationals home games, and Major League Baseball events.
• Facilitate all in-game mascot appearance requests.
• Responsible for purchase requisitions for mascot props, equipment, theme nights, costumes etc.
• Manage service requisitions and contracts for all Mascot and Entertainment needs.
• Ensure all mascot costumes clean and in good repair and provide bi-weekly updates to the Sr. Manager Game Presentation.
• Assist with the recruiting and hiring of Nationals mascot and entertainment staff, including Host, Co-host, Racing Presidents, NatPack, Motorcade, Ball Girls, interns, and Spring Training entertainment staff.
• Coordinate the schedules for Nationals mascot and entertainment staff.
• Maintain the Mascot and Entertainment staff and storage rooms, ensuring they are well organized at all times.
• Maintain the Mascot Van and NatMobile, including re-wraps, keeping registrations updated, and taking vehicles for annual inspections.
• Assist with the execution of the game day on-field presentation, including all pregame assets and special recognitions (First Pitches, Color Guards, Anthem Performers, etc.)
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions to enhance the game day experience.
• Other Mascot and Entertainment related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
• At least 2-3 years of related work in professional or collegiate sports game operations atmosphere.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Successfully pass a Background Investigation.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including working game nights, weekends, holidays, and special event nights as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functions
• Prior experience as a mascot strongly preferred.
• Must be incredibly well organized.
• Ability to think on their feet while staying calm under pressure.
• Ability to research and develop scripts and content based on that research.
• Ability to multi-task and operate with minimal supervision if needed.
• Ability to take projects from concept to completion.
• Ability to organize and adhere to internal workflows so projects are easily shared.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Must possess strong decision-making skills, be very detail oriented and have an outside of the box mentality.
• Must be knowledgeable of the Nationals schedule, players, baseball statistics, rules and records.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral and written).
• Must be comfortable interacting with high profile clients and executives.
• Professional baseball and/or other professional sports production experience preferred.
• Enjoys and demonstrates a passion for being a part of the Nationals organization and for the sport of baseball.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
• Work will require weekend and evening work.
• Job requires employee to function in a high activity and heavily crowded outdoor professional sports venue.
• May work at heights.
• Employee will be exposed to inclement weather of varying degrees.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and climb up/down stairs.
• The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit and must lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.

Compensation:
The projected hourly salary range for this position is $19.71- $26.44 per hour. Actual pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to the applicant's: qualifications, skills, expertise, education/training, certifications, and other organization requirements. Starting salaries for new employees are frequently not at the top of the applicable salary range.
