This is a Full Time Job
The Basketball Communications Lead will serve as the lead contact for media, basketball operations, and the WNBA media office and drives all day-to-day operations pertaining to the team's on-the-court activities. This role is responsible for effectively communicating and promoting the company's message and properly disseminating pertinent information to the media.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as primary contact with media to distribute important information.
• Complete player and staff interviews and photo shoots with local and national media.
• Assist with needs of visiting team's media & PR and visiting national media (ESPN, USA Today, etc.)
• Coordinate media sessions following and/or preceding practices, games, and shootarounds.
• Travel with team for pre-determined amount of away schedule to handle all above issues while on the road.
• Continue existing relationships with local & national media; assist in developing new relationships.
• Complete day-to-day operations pertaining to on-the-court activities.
• Oversee game night logistics (parking, meal, and credential lists).
• Produce external communication vehicles (media guide and postseason guide, game notes, press releases, bios, etc.)
• Responsible for game night statistical crew performance.
• Coordinate production of postgame materials (quotes, notes, etc.)
• In partnership with VP of communications, implement communications plan at all basketball special events (draft, press conferences, etc.)
• Manage basketball communications Coordinator and Associate in absence of Director.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 3 years of experience in sports communications or public relations at either the professional or Division-I collegiate level.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in journalism, public relations, or communications.
• Must have solid knowledge of the WNBA in particular and basketball in general.
• Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to develop and maintain relationships with media and staff.
• Strong writing skills to produce publications, press releases, and other written content.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Internet, and Outlook.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to take direction and work well with others.
• Ability to meet timelines, concentrate, and perform duties accurately.
