This is a Part Time Paid Internship
INTERNSHIP (Seasonal 2023-24): Youth Hockey DevelopmentPosition Overview: The Washington Capitals Youth Hockey Development Intern will be responsible for assisting in all day-to-day operations of the department focusing on community outreach and growing the game of hockey. This is a paid internship.

Responsibilities:
• Represent the Washington Capitals at local community fairs, festivals, and grassroots events.
• Assist in running Caps Hockey School visits to teach P.E. classes about the fundamentals of the game; communicate with P.E. teachers, handle scheduling of visits and Professional Development sessions with teachers, and create mid-year and end-of-year reports about the program.
• Assist in managing and driving programs and events relating to Capitals High School Hockey initiatives, such as the Capitals Cup Championship Series and 2024 College Hockey Combine & Fair.
• Assist in managing and implementing programs within the newly established Inline Hockey and College Intramural platforms.
• Take the lead in scheduling and instructing Try Ball Hockey for Free clinics and Sticks and Sneakers Learn to Play Ball Hockey classes throughout the year at local outdoor ball/inline hockey rinks.
• Organize and carry out various on-ice, off-ice, and hockey school clinics and events throughout the season, while serving as both a coach on the ice and administrator as needed.
• Complete Mites on Ice during 2023-24 Capitals home games and represent Capitals Youth Hockey Development department during any in-game activations.
• Maintain the Youth Hockey Database with participant data from all events.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Previous ice hockey playing experience and ice hockey skating proficiency required.
• Ability to learn quickly and motivation to self-teach.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Organized, thorough, and detail oriented.
• Basic level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Positive approach and strong team spirit.
• Reliable transportation and housing.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed based on event schedule.
