Primary Purpose of the role
The purpose of this role is to develop; sell, and execute retail activation programmes with retailers (retail buyers, retail marketers, licensing coordinators), with the aim of ensuring Warner Bros Discovery has maximum exposure through retail owned assets (be that on the shop floor, on their websites or via their marketing tools), delivering cut through of our franchises and brands, increasing our presence & in turn sell through of product for all represented properties, maximising our return on investment and fan engagement.
Strategic planning:
• Ensure we have the right tools to execute against the franchise priorities for key UK retail partners. This could involve translating internationally created plans, or could include briefing and managing a local (UK based) agency to generate the right materials.
• Compile & recommend trade marketing budget for all relevant retail accounts, based on investment priorities and past return on investment learnings.
• Suggest, establish, and implement specific trade marketing operations/promotions.
• Support the Retail Director by inputting retail insights into the annual strategic plan for the territory
• Analyse profitability of range and trade marketing operations for managed retail accounts.
• Optimize the company's marketing plans by adapting them to the needs of the retailers identified as priorities.
• Ensure territory retail priorities are considered and supportive where relevant.
Cross-divisional and licensees' coordination:
• Federate the resources of other WBD divisions and licensees to maximise retail opportunities
• Work with internal stakeholders and external partners to provide activation solutions to increase presence in-store / online, on and off fixture, for WBD CP 365 and event-driven business
• Work with key licensing partners to rally their support and funding on retail activations.
• Inform and engage with all relevant divisions/licensees sales force on the specific actions being conducted and key retail programmes.
• Work within a dynamic sales and marketing environment using a cross-divisional team approach to develop new opportunities
Operational responsibilities:
• Work collaboratively with category teams to shape retail executions by channel.
• Identify new opportunities and ways to execute for fans by retailer
• Support the retail managers to develop and execute a fully comprehensive retail account plan in-line with territory / brand / product objectives.
• Management of sales operations to bring new ideas and innovative propositions regarding:
• The promotion of WBD CP franchises
• The development of exclusive executions; programmes; promotional handles; and partnerships for key clients
• Work with all relevant stakeholders – internally and externally, to ensure consistent best practices are implemented.
• Conduct activation reviews to measure efficiency and profitability of the actions implemented.
• Recommend subsequent strategies & action plan – both internally and externally.
• Inform relevant stakeholders on progress of retail plans by franchise and property through shared update documents
Retailer management:
• Management of defined retail contact base Regular contact with retail accounts – sharing and selling all WB opportunities; ensuring WBD are first of mind
• Regular reviews with retail stakeholders to assess past activations and plan for future growth
• Negotiate with retailers to acquire and improve visibility in physical and digital stores and on their different promotional tools (catalogues, owned magazines, social media...)
• Gather retail specific EPOS and wholesale figures to inform decision-making
• Plan and implement retail roadshows / presentations with key retailers, to support 365 and event-driven franchises/properties
• Ensure retail partnerships are enhanced by the sharing of meaningful insight and data – aiding retail partners in decision making and forward direction.

Skills
Required
• Retail literate: sound grasp of the UK retail market with a clear understanding of how branded products work at retail.
• Commercial Acumen: A sound understanding of how to translate brand & product creatives / visuals into a meaningful commercial proposition to retail partners.
• Financial Planning: The ability to execute within financial parameters
• Stakeholder management: The ability to get the best and most out of partners. Manage both agency and retailer partners with excellent service levels.
• Retail Operational Experience: A sound understanding of retail operations; how retailers operate and how this can impact any possible plans or executions from WBD
• Strategic Planner: proven planning ability. Able to develop plans and strategies and to follow them. A methodical approach and attention to detail are also important. Proven ability to organize and analyze data and information and develop actionable recommendations
• Self-Starter: Solid degree of personal energy, motivation, and 'push'. Ambition and drive to succeed and to progress within the company. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks, and to work well under time constraints, changing schedules or priorities. Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills: A strong communicator able to influence people at all levels within organisations.
• Ability to prioritise determine priorities in a fluid environment, where individuals often must re-prioritise, based on business immediate needs
• Operational excellence: must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively. There is a requirement to 'roll your sleeves up' and make sure that the operational elements of a plan are executed faultlessly
• Marketing literate: good understanding of the marketing mix, with a particular need for media and sales promotions experience and understanding.
• Strong presentation skills: commanding presence and excellent presentation skills. Polish and tact needed as prerequisites.
