The Job
The Production Manager is responsible for all aspects of graphics production. The position delegates and tracks long-term and short turn around design projects including design, scenic and animation projects. The Production Manager regularly communicates with department directors to manage the production needs of the department, including: workflow assessment, formats and procedures
The Daily
• This position works with the Department Directors to ensure the effective operation of the Graphics team, leveraging tools like iNews, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Teams, Frame.io, VizRT and our project database to develop, maintain and enhance the department workflows and procedures that fulfill the graphics requests.
• The Production Manager leverages an in-depth knowledge of graphics production to maximize the capabilities of the department. Attend daily meetings to assess daily or long-term needs/ this is done for full awareness of all projects and to maintain database.
• The Production Manager acts as the primary creative liaison between the Graphics Department and Editorial Producers to maintain a smooth production of needs/output
• Work with editorial producers to identify opportunities to enhance workflow, i.e. recommending types of graphics that can become VizRT Pilot templates.
• On-board new employees, training them on the process for accepting graphics requests, executing graphics requests using design applications and communicating with editorial team upon project completion.
The Essentials
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Supervisor of the production of TV Graphics (or similar)
• Experience prioritizing/managing expectations with clients under extremely tight deadlines
• Ability to train, manage and lead team members through effective communication
• Experience with project estimates and production tracking according to budget while work is ongoing
• Excellent computer, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Solution-oriented approach to achieve strategic and messaging objectives across key audiences
• Experience working with IT/Engineering to make sure all custom software is integrated and supported successfully
• Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed
• Knowledge of world news, current events and documentary
• Strategic, organizational growth and development experience
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) and Microsoft Suite.
• Flexible schedule: Ability to work extended hours, including overnight hours and weekends as needed
