A little bit about our team:
A variety of personalities, we are a small but mighty team that is nimble, proactive, and not shy to find and secure deals for our artists. Our deals are often rooted in traditional licensed product, but have grown beyond core licensing to include collaborations, campaigns, etc. Whether it is at trade shows or special events we are at the forefront to help serve artists across our roster in any capacity that helps build their brand. This role will be working with the entire team in varied capacities and across the diverse roster that include artists such as My Chemical Romance and Logic to the Grateful Dead and Green Day. Internally, this person will be responsible for managing licensees and the overarching business strategy for his/her roster as well as exhibit a broad knowledge of the overarching business. Externally, this person will be the key liaison with some artist managements and is responsible for actively soliciting and pitching new business to grow and diversify the licensee base congruent to the artist and revenue target goals. Specifically, this role will be working with the biggest artists on our rosters that generate the bulk of the business.
Here you'll get to:
• You will lead all aspects internally and externally of our US licensing business.
• You will be the primary contact for all US licensees as it relates to the overarching business strategy and will be tasked in monitoring the business and ensuring growth be it in revenue, market share and awareness. Therefore, you will be expected to know your business inside and out in terms of the nuances of the artists, the licensees you work with, retail placement, challenges, and well versed in the areas that can be negotiated contractually.
• You will be actively soliciting new business and will be expected to do so in any effective manner necessary be it in attending trade shows, exhibiting, scouring industry trades, researching via social media, etc. You understand that because we are in the music space that licensing deals may be traditional in scope, but often are collaborative dependent on authenticity and brand integrity and not necessarily royalty based and can navigate these types of non-traditional relationships as needed.
• Manage team of external licensing agents directing them in new business acquisition and drive increased revenue targets.
• Manage an internal Licensing Team
• You will be comfortable working independently and stepping up as a leader as a senior person on the team and therefore should have a strong understanding of the business as a whole, be willing to travel for meetings in which a representative for the team is needed.
• You will be working closely with the legal team to ensure proper negotiation and execution of all licensing contracts. This also includes reviewing every contract draft prior to them being shared for signing.
• You will be working closely with finance teams to ensure proper accounting and timely reporting across the full business.
• You will be responsible for identifying your annual budget and forecasting of all licensee royalties and working with finance to generate quarterly and compiling end of year reports on the state of the business with sound analysis to support.
• You will work with the Coordinator and Manager on the team to ensure that all licensees are contractually compliant in regards to product, retail development, royalty reporting and forecasting.
• You will work closely with Creative, Retail and Label Marketing teams to create and execute long-term strategies by artist.
• You will regularly lead the communication with team members on ongoing special projects, thinking proactively research trends.
