We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our innovative and highly sought-after Business & Legal Affairs team at WEA supporting the media and advertising sales team.
A little bit about our team:
Warner-Elektra-Atlantic (WEA) is a global organization within the Warner Music Group umbrella that provides services to the wholly-owned labels and other affiliates and owned and operated brands, including Uproxx, HipHopDX, Songkick and EMP Merchandising. The services provided by WEA are focused on media and advertising sales, artist and fan experiences, merchandising/licensing, original content development and production, CRM and audience analytics, digital account management, and physical sales and distribution. This role will support the media/advertising sales team at WEA.
Why this could be your next big break:
The Senior Director, Business & Legal Affairs, will provide day-to-day business and legal affairs services for the media and advertising sales business and will be responsible for drafting and negotiating agreements related to multimedia sponsorship and advertising endeavors, including advertising technology, branded and custom content, promotions and sponsorships, influencer marketing, production services agreements, talent agreements, appearance and location releases, NDAs, and sweepstakes and contest rules. The Senior Director will also advise the media and advertising sales team on advertising law compliance, policy and process, including native advertising, on-line behavioral advertising, testimonials and endorsements, linear and digital disclosures, and data collection and use. The Senior Director will need a strong working knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, data security, and social media policies to help the team navigate these areas.
Here you'll get to:
• Structure, draft, and negotiate contracts relating to multimedia advertising sales, advertising technology, data collection and use, research and analytics, integrated marketing, branded and custom content, influencer marketing, social media platforms, sponsorships and promotions, programmatic advertising, software license agreements, production services agreements, talent agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
• Advise on advertising law compliance, policy, and process, including native advertising, testimonials and endorsements, claim substantiation, on-line behavioral advertising, digital and linear disclosures and compliance with internal company guidelines.
• Draft contract summaries and assisting with other special projects as requested by senior business and legal affairs executives.
• Ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations, including the participation in the development and implementation of contract-related policies and procedures.
• Partner to assist with additional related tasks as needed.
About you:
• Proven knowledge of advertising law and policy, including compliance with FCC and FTC guidelines, data collection and use guidelines, and other digital advertising industry standards and practices.
• Strong working knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations and data security, including GDPR and CCPA.
• Ability to identify and analyze complex issues and devise solutions and strategies.
• Ability to anticipate and understand the implications of agreements, contractual provisions, and related decisions for the business team, including identifying and assessing potential risks and impacts.
• Great organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently and effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience drafting, negotiating and writing skills, as well as the ability to problem solve in an efficient, business-friendly, creative manner.
• An excellent work ethic and commitment to professionalism; excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with all levels of co-workers and clients.
• Proven experience managing high volume of work as well as working independently on projects with minimal supervision.
We'd love it if you also had:
• 7+ years' experience in a law firm advising major corporate clients and/or corporate legal department, including structuring, negotiating and drafting contracts.
• At least 2 years' entertainment industry or other relevant in-house experience preferred.
• J.D. and active license to practice law in California or New York
