Manager, Publishing Licensing, Rhino Entertainment
A little bit about our team:
Warner Music Group's Publishing Licensing Team provides rights assessment and other licensing and administrative services to each of Warner's U.S. record labels, along with those labels and affiliates based outside of the U.S. that wish to release recordings in the U.S. The Licensing Team is responsible for negotiating and securing mechanical licenses from music publishers and paying those copyright owners the corresponding rates, advances, fees, and other royalties in an accurate and timely manner. The Licensing Manager will oversee a team of three and will report to the Senior Licensing Manager. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Licensing Manager will assist in data strategy development and process enhancements for copyright administration for recorded music. Members of the Publishing Team work closely with all business units at Warner Music Group, including A&R, Business & Legal Affairs, Data Operations, Finance, Production, New Media, and Marketing & Promotions departments to fulfill the above-referenced responsibilities for the recordings those labels release.

The Licensing Manager will have the unique opportunity to work at one of the most progressive companies in the industry. In this role, you will supervise a team of copyright experts responsible for the licensing and rights management of our catalog label, Rhino, home to a broad roster of legendary artists like Aretha Franklin, Chicago, Depeche Mode, Fleetwood Mac, Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, and The Eagles. You will have the opportunity to help develop and maintain business solutions for the Licensing Team, establish relationships with music publishers, and collaborate with all business units in Shared Services as well as our label mates.
Here you'll get to:
• Review production schedules for upcoming releases and assign Rhino releases to team members in order to manage priorities for team;
• Work with label counterparts to obtain artist recording agreements, album track lists and songwriter credit, and production schedules;
• Analyze royalty provisions in agreements with Rhino recording artists and producers and in other agreements between songwriters and their publishing companies and administrators;
• Respond to inquiries from music publishers and other music publishing rights administrators regarding licensing and clearances;
• Manage team members to ensure the relevant clearances, rate calculations and publisher ownerships are set up accurately in Warner's internal copyright system;
• Perform any other duties and tasks related to the Department's role and responsibilities that might be assigned by the Executive Leadership Team;
• Evaluate and implement ways to streamline business processes between Licensing and Royalties, Finance, and Legal Affairs.
Rockstar candidates will:
• Possess excellent analytical, mathematical and organizational skills and have exceptional attention to detail;
• Demonstrate the ability to achieve desired results under strict deadlines;
• Manage multiple assignments at any given time and prioritize effectively and appropriately;
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Have strong computer skills, including data analysis (with an emphasis on accuracy and problem-solving);
• Have a strong proficiency in Excel;
• Work well both independently and as part of a team and department;
• Have Bachelor's degree
It would be music to our ears if you also had:
• 2 years' experience managing multiple individuals.
• 3+ years' experience working in a position involving copyright or royalties administration in publishing or recorded music.
• Contract analysis experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint applications.
