Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Responsible for overall brand strategy.
• Liaise with band’s Legacy Manager, David Lemieux, on all significant decisions and developments. Run monthly Soundscan reports.
• Determine physical and digital release schedules. Work with David Lemieux to ensure pre-production deadlines are met (show selection, approved liners, photos selected, etc).
• Start and schedule all physical projects internally via Gate process
• Work with content and creative development members to process production POs and non-employee payments for Jeffrey Norman/David Glasser.
• Work with finance to generate p&l. Make adjustments as necessary to ensure maximum profitability without sacrificing quality.
• Choose and hire artist, package designer, editorial, and serve as primary point person for all release-related production decisions
• Negotiate deals for art, photo clearances and all licensed materials. Act as a liaison between third party and Business Affairs to draw up and execute contracts.
• Manage approval process for all aspects/contents of release
• Manage project budgets
• Create and implement marketing plans for each release
• Drive creation of all marketing/promotional assets, including web banners, videos, theatrical shorts and slideshows
• Set and maintain marketing, social media, and overall brand calendars. Circulate to appropriate parties periodically in a timely manner.
• Conceive of and generate content for Grateful Dead channels
• Strategize and approve all communications to fans including monthly bulletins, sale messages, licensed merchandise advertising, Facebook posts, Tweets, and Instagram posts.
• Solely responsible for Grateful Dead Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Find and create assets/content, schedule and administer posts. Analyze and benchmark all data, strategize growth, engagement, and opportunities to monetize. Work with Grateful Dead band member properties to ensure all needs are being fairly represented on the Grateful Dead properties (e.g. Mickey Hart show announcements, etc).
• Collaborate with Dead.net merchandising director on product development and marketing initiatives.
• Monitor official website, Dead.net for efficiency of content, marketing, and timeliness of messaging. Work with D2C team to ensure the consumer-facing content is fresh and engaging.
• Provide input on licensed product approvals.
• Develop and implement coordinated marketing efforts with licensees. Includes providing Grateful Dead metrics, conference calls and brainstorm sessions, etc.
• Manage Grateful Dead theatrical screenings.
• Negotiate contract, develop marketing plan and strategy, oversee creation and delivery of key art and promotional tools, approve all assets, marketing copy and correspondence.
• Work with third party promotional partners to execute marketing campaigns and giveaways around the screenings.
• Collaborate with PR, Radio, and Sirius/XM to execute nationwide promotional giveaways at terrestrial radio in connection with the screenings.
• Build branding and sales opportunities around meaningful events and milestones, with special attention to the 2015 50th anniversary of the band.
• Seek out and implement co-branding initiatives.
• Manage any off-site events, including theatrical screenings.
• Produce eight releases per year with an additional one or two boxed sets.
• Point person for Sirius/XM channel relationship
• Monitor fan/community feedback. Identify valuable input and address it in messaging, product development, and overall brand strategy.
PRODUCTION DUTIES
• Get the show and have it sent for setup.
• Communicate audio due dates to mixing and mastering engineer
• Get mixing and mastering engineer’s costs approved and set up in MBO, 3rd party non-employee management company, via the Sr. Manager, Content & Creative Development.
