Manager, Digital Mechanical Registrations
A little bit about our team:
The Mechanical Licensing team is responsible for clearing and licensing all WCM songs released in physical and digital audio format. By working closely with internal departments, record labels, various music publishers, the Harry Fox Agency and the MLC, the Mechanical Licensing Department makes sure our writers' songs are cleared, registered correctly and set up for payment. Mechanical royalties are a vital source of revenue for our songwriters so we are looking for detailed oriented applicants who are ready to get involved in this exciting facet of the industry.
Your role:
This position works on the Warner Chappell Mechanical Licensing team, in the Registrations area. In this department you will have the opportunity to dive head first into the world of writer splits and digital registrations! By working with other internal departments you will provide HFA and The MLC, the shares Warner Chappell represents, along with making important connections to recording information for our publishing catalog. All of this detective works enables The MLC to calculate our writers' mechanical royalties and pay our writers! All thanks to the work you'll do! Overseeing processes and establishing new ways of getting the job done, are all part of this opportunity, while being at the front of innovation for future mechanical licensing. Every day provides a new challenge and working in this department you will have fun learning all about work registration and its importance within the music industry.
Here you'll get to:
• Under supervision of the Director, Mechanical Licensing, manage all registration based tasks for the team, and be the day-to-day point person for US digital work registrations, while overseeing our recording matching efforts.
• Manage existing and establish new tracking metrics for registration work.
• Manage conflicts that arise at The MLC, in an effort to resolve them. Work closely with Income Tracking and Copyright departments to help track pending and unresolved song splits, with the ultimate goal of having the work registered correctly.
• Review and confirm all quarterly/annual split report requests from external parties.
• Handle all ad-hoc research reports dealing with splits, label copy and/or mechanical registrations.
• Liaison with Copyright team for the smooth and efficient transfer of registration information for new deals.
• Suggest, discuss and once approved, implement ideas that benefit the team and established processes.
• Effectively escalate issues of high complexity to management to obtain proper course of action, judgment and/or decision.
• Provide status updates for projects to Director, Mechanical Licensing, Administration department and other departments as needed.
• Answer incoming general registration inquiries and/or direct to correct contacts when needed.
