Job Description:
We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our innovative and highly sought-after Digital team at Warner Chappell Music (WCM).
A little bit about our team:
Warner Chappell Music's Digital team is responsible for growing revenues through all forms of digital exploitation and finding new and innovative ways in which to grow our business in a way that underlines the value of our incredible catalogue of work. The team is responsible for identifying, negotiating, drafting contracts, as well as working internally with Operations and Finance to ensure that all reporting is delivered accurately, and the relevant payment have been made on time. The WCM digital team is a unique and diverse team spread across time zones that relies heavily on remote working strategies to collaborate, including Agile and Scrum. The WCM Digital Intern will provide research and analysis services to the global team, but will be based in the Los Angeles office.
Why this could be your next big break:
While the majority of digital revenue is generated through the big-name music services, WCM is always on the hunt for innovative services that want to use music in groundbreaking ways. Thorough research and early outreach to new partners is paramount to our team's success. By identifying licensing targets early in the product cycle and entering commercial negotiations, candidates will learn how a business lead can translate into new revenue, partnership, and growth. While this role is U.S.-centric, candidates will learn about the complicated global nature of the digital music business and help untangle the web of V.C. funding, foreign parent ownership, and international consulting that accompanies this space.
Here you'll get to:
• Help with research and outreach to digital licensing targets, particularly in the video-clip, fitness, instructional, karaoke, and podcast space
• Assist in deal modeling and analysis
• Observe the commercial and legal negotiation process
• Generate presentation materials for executive-level deal meeting.
• Extract high-level information from contracts to generate reports and maintain department deal tracker
Rockstar candidates will be able to:
• Have an understanding of how a music publisher and/or performing rights organization operates through professional, collegiate, or personal experience
• An above-average proficiency using Excel and all other Microsoft Office products
• Have a fast learning curve with team communication and tracking tools (such as Slack, Trello, Monday.com)
• Demonstrate an innate interest in technology and the V.C. landscape
• a can-do attitude and a sense of humor
It would be music to our ears if you also had:
• A background in finance or legal services
• Past internship experience at a digital music service, music company, startup, or related organization
