Director, Digital Strategy & Business Development Group
A little bit about our team
WMG's Digital Strategy & Business Development team is responsible for leading the global deal negotiations with digital service providers on behalf of Warner Music Group. We strike deals with global distribution platforms in hopes of finding and growing audiences, growing monetization, and creating value for our labels and artists.
Role Overview
In this role, you will become a key liaison within our business development team. You will help further drive value from many of our commercial relationships with third parties. The ideal candidate has business acumen, has an entrepreneurial mindset, loves following the latest trends in media technology, and can develop and translate business goals/KPIs into actionable steps to achieve growth. The role is based in New York.
Here You'll Get To
• Play a key role in outbound BD efforts to third parties in verticals such as (but not limited to) podcasting, live events / livestreaming, and video production and content licensing.
• Ability to ''roll up your sleeves'' and prospect for new business opportunities. Use your existing rolodex, and develop and maintain new contacts as necessary in pursuit of creating new potential partnerships to achieve growth.
• Track pipeline and progress of potential deals across the team and provide regular updates to SVP as well as other stakeholders from WMG's senior leadership team.
• Drive presentations to communicate and socialize key partnerships to senior leadership (e.g., c-suite, label heads, etc.).
• Put your project management skills to use and manage deliverables for several long-term strategic initiatives for the NY BD team.
Preferred Expertise
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with proactive attitude, strong work ethic, and highly organized.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to manage several projects while working collaboratively with individuals across many functional areas.
• Strong presentation skills; strong Excel and PowerPoint skills are a plus.
Education
/ Experience Required
• Bachelor's Degree from a top university (MBA preferred).
• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, preferably including:
• Previous business development experience at a media company experience.
• Demonstrated experience in project management.
• 1-2 years consulting, investment banking / financial services, or other corporate deal related experience preferred.
