Job Title: Director, Corporate Finance JV Management
A little bit about our team and the role:
The Director, Corporate Finance JV Management will be a critical member of the finance team, responsible for all aspects of financial management, reporting, and compliance for the newly launched JV between WMG and Bain Capital. The JV seeks to acquire, own, and manage rights in recorded music and music publishing catalogs. This role requires a meticulous and strategic professional with a deep understanding of accounting, strong operational capabilities, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
Here, you'll get to:
• Oversee all daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management, in coordination with the finance and accounting shares service team. Ensure accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions related to JV activities (e.g., capital calls, distributions, investment purchases/sales, expenses, etc.)
• Prepare and review accurate and timely financial documents for the fund, including balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flows, and statements of partners' capital, in accordance with relevant accounting standards
• Manage the preparation and delivery of comprehensive investor reports, including quarterly/annual financial documents, capital account statements, performance reports, and ad-hoc requests
• Collaborate with internal investment teams and third-party valuation firms on the valuation of fund investments, ensuring adherence to valuation policies and industry best practices
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, coordinating the annual audit process, preparing audit schedules, and ensuring timely completion of audited financial documents
• Oversee the preparation and filing of all necessary tax returns for the fund and related entities, working closely with the internal WMG corporate tax team and external tax advisors
• Manage the fund's cash positions, banking relationships, and short-term liquidity, optimizing cash utilization and mitigating financial risks, working closely with the internal corporate treasury team
• Coordinate with internal audit to build and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting to safeguard fund assets and ensure data integrity
• Lead the operational budget for the fund's management company, tracking expenses, and providing financial insights to management, working closely with the internal corporate development team
About you:
• Deep understanding of JV operating structures, including waterfall calculations, capital calls, and distributions
• Strong knowledge of relevant accounting principles (US GAAP required)
• Tried experience with budgeting and financial reporting, including investor reporting and regulatory filings
• Demonstrated experience leading external audits and tax/treasury compliance
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff, investors, and external partners
• Ability to work independently, manage several priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
We'd love it if you also had:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is highly preferred
• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in finance and accounting. Experience (3-4 years) in a controller or senior accounting role within an investment fund is also valuable
• Knowledge of music/media industry a strong plus

Salary Range
$160,000 to $170,000 Annually
Salary ranges are included for job postings where required by law. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience and business needs. The pay range is subject to change at any time dependent on a variety of internal and external factors.
