The Digital Strategy and Business Development team is a cross-functional and collaborative team focused on delivering both revenue results and visibility for our artists via digital account management, content strategy and activation, platform optimization, rights management and business development.
The Director of Audience & Business Development will report into the VP, Digital Strategy and Business Development and oversee a team across digital advertising, social media, audience, and video strategy. In addition to overseeing these verticals, the Director is responsible for project-managing new music technology partnerships including Web3 adoption and gaming initiatives for Warner Music Canada's roster of artists. Key to the role is driving education and defining processes and communication across the business to drive adoption of these new technologies and partnerships.
Here you'll be able to:
• Manage and mentor a team including the Digital Advertising & Audience Manager, Social Strategy Manager, Social Media & Fan Engagement Coordinator, and YouTube and Video Partner Manager.
• Ideate and recommend digital marketing and advertising strategies across artist channels, identifying new opportunities for audience growth and fan engagement.
• Oversee relationships with Digital Advertising partners including managing business strategies, policies, and quarterly business reviews.
• Develop strategies to grow WMC's owned and operated channels and liaise with the Global team to unlock opportunities for our Canadian artists with our global O&O media properties.
• Lead on developing an Audience and CRM strategy for WMC's artists including growing and utilizing 1st party data, retargeting strategies, etc.
• Oversee Media Sales strategy for Canada in partnership with Global Media team and local sales rep, and assist in monthly digital revenue forecast process
• Work with Strategy and Analytics team to extract and translate data from various sources into actionable insights for Digital Strategy team
• Collaborate with various departments including Marketing, Streaming, Ecommerce, Strategy & Analytics, Business Affairs and A&R to align on digital strategies to optimize the business and create growth and revenue opportunities for our artists
• Along with VP, Digital Strategy and Business Development, liaise with Global Business Development to stay informed on digital partner deals, educating internal team on developments.
• Act as Web3 champion for WMC, educating the company on global initiatives and identifying opportunities for Canadian artist participation.
• Identify local partnership and business opportunities within the tech and Web3 space in Canada, leveraging your relationships within the music-tech community for our artists
• Develop go-to-market strategies for implementing new partnerships, building case-studies for the business with actionable insights
It would be music to our ears if you also had:
• 10+ years of experience in digital marketing or tech with a focus on music
• Able to understand complex deal terms.
• Proven ability to innovate and push boundaries within cross-functional teams, crafting unique and engaging campaigns.
• Work comfortably within web analytics, CRM, paid media, social media and digital marketing platforms.
• Employ emotional intelligence, business savvy and project management skills to meet team objectives.
• Create and maintain relationships with senior executives in the organization to develop new strategies and customer journeys across multiple fan touch points.
• Use empathy to gain understanding of artist, management, and label needs, translating cultural and business trends into signals for fan engagement.
• Understanding of marketing technology and marketplace powering today and tomorrow's music industry.
• You are interested in new tech trends and the future of digital content consumption: including Web3 technologies, NFT art, music technology, voice technology, digital native music discovery and more.
