At Warner Music Group, we're a global collective of music makers and music lovers, tech innovators and inspired entrepreneurs, game-changing creatives and passionate team members. Here, we know that each talent makes our collective bolder and brighter. We are guided by four core principles that underpin everything we do across all our diverse businesses:
• Music is Everything: Music is our passion, and we can never get enough. Tastes, trends, and tech will change, but great artists and songwriters will always be our driving force.
• Global Growth, Local Expertise: Music is a global language. Through communication and collaboration, our success can come from anywhere and translate everywhere.
• Innovation and Insight: Pushing the boundaries requires the best information and the boldest imagination. We use both to create the future.
• Empowered by People: Like the artists we serve and the music they make, our differences make us stronger. This is a place where every talent can belong and build a career.
A little bit about our team:
The Business & Legal Affairs department provides global business and legal support to WMX, which provides both artists and labels with a deep, dynamic range of services - covering everything from streaming to merchandise and experiential events to branded content to media sales and beyond.
Your role:

The Associate Director will also advise the media and advertising sales team on advertising law compliance, policy and process, including native advertising, online behavioral advertising, testimonials and endorsements, linear and digital disclosures, and data collection and use. The Associate Director will need a working knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, data security, and social media policies to help the team navigate these areas.
Here you'll get to:
• Structure, draft, and negotiate contracts relating to multimedia advertising sales, advertising technology, data collection and use, research and analytics, integrated marketing, branded and custom content, influencer marketing, social media platforms, sponsorships and promotions, programmatic advertising, software license agreements, production services agreements, talent agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
• Advise on advertising law compliance, policy, and process, including native advertising, testimonials and endorsements, claim substantiation, on-line behavioral advertising, digital and linear disclosures and compliance with internal company guidelines.
• Draft contract summaries and ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations, including the participation in the development and implementation of contract-related policies and procedures.
• Oversee and assist with other special projects as requested by senior members of the Business and Legal Affairs team.
About you:
• Knowledge of advertising law and policy, including compliance with FCC and FTC guidelines, data collection and use guidelines, and other digital advertising industry standards and practices.
• Working knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations and data security, including GDPR and CCPA.
• Ability to identify and analyze complex issues and devise solutions and strategies.
• Ability to anticipate and understand the implications of agreements, contractual provisions, and related decisions for the business team, including identifying and assessing potential risks and impacts.
• Great organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently and effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with all levels of co-workers and clients.
We'd love it if you also had:
• 2+ years of transactional law firm experience. 1+ year of transactional legal experience in an entertainment company or related law practice is strongly preferred.
• J.D. and active license to practice law in California or New York is required.
