Global Retail, Experience, and Tours Technology (GREATT) is the group at Warner Bros. Technology that is the primary point of contact for our retail and tours business. We are responsible for all operational, marketing, and guest facing technologies, as well as serving as the central hub for all tech support activities.
As the Software Developer, you will be responsible for the creation, development and operation of the WB Studio Tour front-end and back-end technology suite of products.
This role requires a unique blend of technology skill in digital media development and expertise in design for public-facing web, app, and API technology.
The GREATT Team requires a seasoned engineer with experience in WordPress, Multi-Site WordPress and CMS best practices, Internet-scale distributed systems, and a focus on customers, front and backend engineering, and operational excellence.
This role is part of a small engineering team that is responsible for design, development, and operations of a variety of software applications.
The right candidate is a strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and who has a track record of leading strong teams that deliver results.
For GREATT, the technology team works directly with the highest business stakeholders and in this role you must be able to clearly demonstrate a mastery of the product, possess the communications skills to discuss the intricacies of the technology with the business team, and offer creative solutions to business challenges.
You will work with your team and senior leadership to develop, launch and maintain the high quality services and offerings of the GREATT team – specifically the consumer facing websites, the lower development environments, and mobile apps that may become part of the future roadmap.
The ideal candidate is experienced working in an agile environment, and has BOTH design expertise and front-end engineering expertise, particularly in WordPress. In this role, developing the product and developing the brand go hand-in-hand – the right candidate has experience working in a large corporate environment, is comfortable participating in both discovery and solutioning. Must maintain and develop the code pipeline. You will also work with APIs from third party vendors.
The Software Developer to be based in our Leavesden Headquarters.
The Daily
• Creating and Modifying custom WordPress Plugins and Themes
• Working with and integrating Third Party APIs to Warner Bros websites
• Using new technology/languages to create new experiences for GREATT
• Improving automatic process to deliver code from development to production
• Managing server environments along with WB AROC team
The Essentials
• 8 years' experience developing software in a design-focused team.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience managing software development projects, with hands-on architectural or distributed systems experience.
• Expertise with WordPress and working with APIs to create integrated, flexible products.
• Experience building and operating highly available services.
• Prior experience with creative/design teams.
• Prior experience with the design thinking process.
• Experience working in corporate structured environments.
• Ability to present and lead meetings.
• Familiarity with big data tools and technologies.
• Expert level of WordPress Development & Engineering.
• Experience with large scale distributed systems.
• Experience working within, creating, and maintaining code repositories.
• Expertise with architecting solutions.
• Expertise working with APIs to create integrated, flexible products in WordPress.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Previous experience with data and analytics for websites, apps, as well as the 10-foot User Interface.
• Experience working with corporate marketing and branding teams preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction or related discipline, or commensurate work experience.
