Warner Bros. The Job
Warner Bros seeks a VP, Drama Development for the TV Creative Affairs department responsible for directing and managing aspects of development of new scripted series to broadcast and cable television.
The Daily
• Oversees writer/development deals by providing creative feedback during the pitch/script development process and during the ongoing production of series.
• Generates original ideas and arenas for development.
• Responsible for creating a cohesive working environment between Warner Bros. Television writers/producers, and the networks during both development and production series.
• Will be involved with assigned show(s) of on-air series programs under the guidance of the Executive Vice President, including the reading and evaluation of weekly scripts regarding concept, character development, character definition, story structure, and dialogue.
• Maintains and establishes new relationships with the creative community (writers, producers, and performers), agents and managers with the end goal of identifying outside material and talent for Warner Bros. Productions.
• Acts as liaison between the WB Television Departments (Production, Publicity, Business Affairs, Casting, etc.) to streamline the flow of information.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
The Essentials
• Position requires a minimum of 5-8 years creative executive experience with development experience in both drama and comedy.
• Knowledge of basic accounting sufficient to review, analyze and evaluate budgets.
• Must have strong writing and excellent communication skills
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management
• Must be able to work under strict time constraints and meet deadlines
• Must be able to prepare clear and concise reports, manuals etc. for management.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must be able to handle confidential information
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to supervise, direct, and evaluate administrative and clerical subordinates in the performance of the tasks.
