Full Time Job
The Job
The position works within the WBSL Set Lighting, Scaffolding and Facilities departments. The Transport Manager is responsible for maintaining the highest standards for the fleet of over 35 vehicles. Managing the transport operation, ensuring company requirements are met and company policies, processes and procedures are followed. The Transport Manager role requires organising safety inspections, insurance, vehicle repairs, maintenance and enhancement, accident management, record keeping of drivers hours and vehicle movements in accordance with VOSA (Vehicle Operators Standard Agency) rules, uploading this information to the Freight Transport Association for compliance checking.
The Daily
• Maintain Set Lighting & Rigging plus Facilities fleets under the Operators Vehicle License.
• Management of Ultra Low & Low Emission Zones, Vehicle pollution, standards for toxic nitrogen oxides (NOx) and the move towards zero emission vehicles, sustainable practices and reducing carbon footprint.
• Working with the business to assist with planning and organising vehicle availability ensuring maximum vehicle utilisation.
• Filing and managing contracts and liaising with the accounts team to confirm all payment of invoices.
• Manage service schedules and maintenance histories.
• Dealing with vehicle accident and insurance claims and liaising with insurance brokers to handle accidents.
• Communicate with any legal representative in the event of speeding and tickets or other penalties.
• Processing FPN's (Fixed Penalty Notices)
• Management of all fleet legal requirements and consider vehicle manufacturers' guidelines and government legislation.
• Producing reports on equipment failures, VORs, on-going issues and service levels
• Ensuring best driving practice is being met by all staff.
• Responsible for ensuring the management of drivers behaviours and performance and ensuring any action required is taken, in line with company policies and procedures
• Undertake regular vehicle license checks to ensure competent with vehicles.
• Ensuring that all legal requirements are adhered to with regard to tacho collection, driver hours and transport legislation and that any offences are communicated to drivers and action taken if appropriate.
• Monitoring fuel usage
The Essentials
• Previous fleet management experience required
• Previous experience of establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients.
• Experience of maintaining vehicles necessary.
• Consistently looking to improve processes within all operations departments and across the company as a whole.
• Can work with minimum supervision.
• Good communication skills, numeracy, accuracy and literacy
• Proven experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
• Key influencer, persuader, good engagement and change management skills
• Strong IT skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint would be an advantage.
• Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
• Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels in the business, produce reports and have strong commercial awareness.
• Have a working knowledge of Transport Legislation / WTD / Drivers hours.
• Flexibility to meet the needs of the client
Qualifications
• Full clean HGV license
• CPC international road Haulage, essential
