Based in the heart of Soho, facilities include two 4K HDR Baselight X Grading Theatres, Flame Online suites, Digital Dailies facilities, Dark Fibre connectivity and a full Mastering and QC department.
The world-renowned Sound facilities include six networked Dubbing Theatres, in-house Sound Supervision and Editorial, ADR Facilities alongside a Café & fully licensed Bar and 56 Cutting Rooms. De Lane Lea also has additional facilities based at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden including a 50 seat 4K Screening Room, 4K VFX Review Theatre and In-Facility and On-Location Digital Dailies.

The Job
Data I/O facilitates all digital and physical media deliveries between clients and internal systems and storage volumes and works directly with engineering and operations.
The Data I/O Operator is responsible for reading and writing of data to various media formats. The Data I/O Operator will be handling data and content throughout the building, across multiple platforms and equipment configurations. This role is a key coordinator of the flow of content and data in, out and throughout the building and coordinating data movement and storage usage across multiple storage volumes, providing data backup for operations activities and other duties as required.
The candidate should have extensive experience working at a similar level within a large post production company delivering content of a comparable standard and profile for both film and television.
The Daily
• Expedite work orders for both picture and audio departments
• Reading and writing data to various media formats across multiple platforms and equipment configurations.
• Ensuring media management and archiving protocols and procedures are adhered to.
• Provide prompt and secure handling of all material received and sent from the facility.
• Log, track, QC, and communicate with production teams after receiving delivery materials
• Digital file transmission using Aspera Faspex and ASCP programs, Signiant, etcetera.
• Managing of disk space within the storage environment for a large-scale post-production facility.
• Develop scripts and/or programs to automate operations and simplify processes.
• File manipulation including renaming, renumbering, metadata information, etc.
• Works directly with engineering department and the Data I/O Manager to troubleshoot and remedy equipment issues.
• Checking the integrity of all incoming and outgoing video and audio signals and monitoring the performance of operational systems.
The Essentials
• Excellent IT skills and good level working knowledge of Mac OS, Linux, Unix and Windows for mounting of drives, formatting and encryption read/write
• Ability to use standard Unix commands for file system hierarchy and navigating online, launching command line scripts, naming conventions and file permissions.
• Good working knowledge of Baselight, Flame, Adobe Creative Cloud, AVID, Protools, Clipster, Transkoder and various standard post-production systems and platforms.
• Good working knowledge of digital cinema workflow, camera types and formats, codec's, framerates, colour spaces and industry standard deliverable formats.
• Ability to recognise different file formats/image size resolutions for file processing and quality control
• Work a flexible schedule; weekend and evening shifts are possible
• Good level of knowledge of all delivery formats is essential for this role as is a good understanding of the post-production process & technical requirements for international delivery.
• Maintain data integrity and standards compliance checks using in-house and third-party tools
• Excellent working knowledge of Aspera and other secure file transfer networks and platforms.
• Technical and data support and tracking.
• Full understanding of tapeless workflows
• Must have experience with EDL's, OMF/AAF's, various quicktime codecs, etc.
• Good working knowledge of digitizing, transcoding, logging, syncing and grouping
• Experience as an Assistant Editor and/or Media Operator
• Exposure to processes and etiquette around high end episodic television drama and studio feature films.
